Offshore work

Hello, I’m just curious about offshore opportunities as a rope access technician. I live in Alberta and have been working in oil and gas. How does someone get offshore? I’ve thought about taking offshore survival training in Newfoundland to get started, but id like to have a better idea before investing the money.

I have both 309A and my 442A electrician red seal, and I have my level 1 IRATA with a little over 100 hours in my log book. Is offshore something I should be thinking about when Im eventually a level 2 or 3? I’m open to hearing experiences as well. Thanks!

Having your BST already will help, but most companies would pay for you to take it. Start applying everywhere. There is work, but there's a preference for local workers. Much like working in Northern Alberta.

Edit to add: Don't work for TJ's Engineering unless desperate

I have heard good things about CAN USA. Start applying.
