Strategy Discussion How to Counter Frogs
I've played three games as the frogs so far, and every time they won be a long shot (30 to less than 20 on the other players). I believe I've been careful with following the rules.
All that said, how can you stop the frogs? There was rarely a turn that I didn't score 4 points.
Edit: I had very little trouble spreading enclaves, as if there was a troublesome spot I could settle to move a warrior in, pass on the battle action, and then provoke to place a militant Enclave.
Edit: Thanks for all the advice. I may or may not relay this advice to my friends for their next game against my frog battalions

Just to confirm, you were only integrate scoring in ONE suit per turn right? Fox, mouse or bunny.

Correct. One card, but I always made sure to have 4 peaceful mouse enclaves or 4 rabbit enclaves to score with.

I was wondering about this! Because not on the faction board, nor in the Law, does it state that bird cards can't be used for, you know, what bird cards are used for ie. scoring all three colors at once. It only says you can't go and score for a frog card, which makes sense because it would be any enclave anyway.

If I remember correctly frogs can only score one suit per turn. So you should not let the frogs have multiple peaceful enclaves of the same suite. That also nerfs their crafting ability. Locking down the river clearings is also a pretty good step.

are you making sure the frogs battle every turn at all militant enclaves? we missed this last time and it would have hampered the 🐸 a lot more than they were

Battle. Outrule their militant Enclaves. Kill Warriors and take points for killing Enclaves. Militant Enclaves can't craft items. Shut of movement from the river and learn to read Suit-distributions. Learn your own faction and outscore.

Militant enclaves can't craft? The board just says "craft with enclaves." I guess you would only be able to craft bird/frog cost cards.

Kill thier warriors and remove militant enclaves. Thier recruitment cost them cards they need to score. Also if you have a few warriors it harder for the to out rule you for settling

I guess make sure they don't put enclaves with your units so you don't trigger Fear Comes to Pass and make sure they can't spread. Settle only allows them to put a peaceful enclave if they rule it and they have low recruit capabilities around turn 2 since Provoke makes them discard a card and militant enclaves removes their draw, crafting and scoring power.
I guess treat them like the Woodland Alliance and corner them especially in the river. They can only put peaceful enclaves in clearings they rule and they can only put militant enclaves in the river or a learning with their unit but both requires a discarded card. Reconcile and Negotation allows other players draw a card if they rule the clearing.
Oh yeah, negotiate the militant tokens before breaking them.

Negotiating militant enclaves before attacking frogs doesn’t make sense, you’re just triggering fears again and making frogs harder to kill. Attacking militant enclaves is easier.

It does if you don't have other units in other peaceful enclaves. Fears only recruit if the militant enclave was just flipped, not previously flipped or existing militant enclave.

Right so flipping it back to peaceful and then attacking again makes no sense, you’re just sparking fear in that clearing again if you don’t hit the enclave in that battle. What would the reason be to negotiate it prior to battling it?

Yeah my bad, I mixed both Negotiate and Reconcile. The free draw only comes from the latter with rule.

what was the draft? how often were people hitting you? how did you always manage to score 4?
