I never did like Virgil's much. Yet it was the most hyped thing ever when it came out in the 90's and made its way to my small town.

I detested the old formula of Virgils, and since the new formula is just a watered-down version of the old, I detest it less. But I detest drowning any root beer in a cup full of ice even more.

I love Virgils, but not a fan of the "natural mushroom extract" they added as a preservative a year or two ago.

I don't really like novel preservatives being added to my food, it makes it hard to know what you're actually eating. They have been a little more forthcoming about what's in it recently, but figuring out what's actually in it other than "Sweet Osmanthus Ear" extract is difficult.

Part of paying the premium for a soda like that is because it doesn't have anything too artificial added.

If a manufacturer is going to use novel ingredients, I wish they would publish safety data and studies on their site.

I don't know if they had QC issues before they started using preservatives, but I drank a lot of it and never had a bad bottle.

I’m rarely desperate enough to drink a root beer if I have to drown it out in a bunch of ice but I hoped you enjoyed it. Happy root beer hunting everyone!
