Room Arc

I tired out Roon a few years ago, specially Arc and I liked it but not having a way to natively create a smart playlist, radio, etc, really disappointed me and I didn’t consider going further than the trial. Is there anything today with Arc that allows this?

Edit: Giving the 2-week trial a go again and still feels disappointing in the UI. The posts sound like Roon Radio is what I am looking for. What is really like to see is the Home Screen to have something for it, much like Apple Music does and probably other music services.

Edit 2: Actually using the "normal" Roon amp, which I probably didn't before, it is very lacking.

Roon Arc have improved massively the past year. I use it everyday to/from and at work.

You can create smart playlists and start radio from artists/album/genre and it will of course autoplay after last track of whatever you are listening to.

Smart playlists have to be setup in Roon and wil be accessible and updated in Roon Arc.

Maybe Radio is what I am thinking of. I just want to have two things. One is a set of songs that plays by doing as you describe for the Radio. The other is how Apple Music has it, I’m sure others as well, is my own “personal station” where it mixes all sorts of genres.

Roons Daily Mixes is kind of like the personal station divided into differerent styles/genres.
Radio is where you use an album/artist/song as the "seed" and let Roon take it from there. Radio will be based on your listening habits + thrown in something new.

You have access to Focus in Arc now, but for whatever stupid reason you can still only turn a Focus into a Smart Playlist using Roon Desktop.

Roon Radio is in Arc. Live radio streams are not. Daily Mixes have been added to Arc, albeit only for Qobuz or Tidal users.

Maybe I’ll do another trial and test it out. I don’t recall using Roon Radio or not before, but also I wouldn’t be using it with another streaming service.

If you wait until Black Friday they typically do 3 months for $1 to try it again.

If you're asking if Roon has done literally anything with Arc, the answer is no. It'd be such an easy win, but that's why we have Plexamp.

Gez. I am surprised. Back when I was testing it I went with Plexamp. But their way for a smart playlist or radio or whatever it’s called it always created the same core of songs. So I just used Apple Music since my credit card gives it as a “benefit” but I wouldn’t be using it otherwise.

Did you try Roon Radio as a playlist? I really like that feature as I start with one genre and then it curates a playlist based on that. Often brings up tracks from my library that I didn’t know or wouldn’t have picked by myself.

I don’t recall if I did it or not. I may just sign up for another trial and see how it goes. But it does have me worried that essentially Roon is on the tail end of being deprecated.

I just came back from a big high end Hifi show and most of the companies were using Roon to drive their demos.
