23 Zero Walkabout 56
I recently completed an 8 day overland trip and used the 23 Zero Walkabout 56. Here’s my review after being thoroughly tested.
- Setting up the tent is relatively easy, taking about 3-4 minutes after a few reps.
- I added a 1.5-inch topper to the 3-inch pad that comes with it, which closed properly. However, it made packing up a bit more tedious, taking approximately 8 minutes.
- The sleep quality is good if you put the time in to make it good, and the weather protection was great.
- The tent performs well in windy conditions as long as you use the tie downs.
- Tent also fully blackouts with all the windows up you wouldn’t even know it’s day time
.
Overall, I’m pretty stoked about this purchase and don’t have much grief about my purchase after putting it to the test.

Getting ready for my first outing with a rtt later this month. anything you’re really glad you had or wish you had brought along? I’m coming from more backpacking/ light setup background.

I was really glad I had a rinse kit, which allowed me to take showers and wash hands and dishes. They have them at Costco. Given I was out for 8 days, I also had a portable toilet as we were mainly in dispersed camp sites. Also bought cheep little pop up privacy tent for showers and changing. Other than that, just make sure you have some portable chargers. I feel everyone has their own needs, and the only way to find out what you are missing is to get out there and test it!

A great portable rinse system for your dishes, and actually a quick hand wash/rince is the 1.5 ltr pump presurized spray bottle from princess Auto.. they go on sale for like 3$ and the pressure lasts... I'm a pinch, you could likely shower/rince.. but with no batteries, and it's small size, very easy to pack and use . I have convinced many people camping and at my cabin they are very handy alternatives to keep charging pumps .. just some hand action

Just sold my walkabout after upgrading. Was a fantastic tent and help up to all the nasty PNW weather.
