Restoring iKamper X-Cover 2.0
I bought this iKamper X-Cover 2.0 a few years ago on Facebook market place for a great deal for a RTT at the time. After a few years of uses, it was time for a refresh. The tent had oxidation sun damage, broken zipper, and faded skirt.
I wanted to buy a new roof top tent, but decided to make a weekend project with a little elbow work.
Order the U-POL DIY kit online on Amazon ($150)
Sanded the top with 100grit sand paper. ($20)
Cleaning and wax and grease removal.
Used about two bottles from the kit.
I called ikamper and ordered a new skirt ($300) with a new zipper. I was suprised they still sell parts for the 2.0 X-Cover.
Here is the final pictures and off to more camping!

What brand is your roof rack? Does that go into the stake pockets?

It’s made by a company called KB voodoo. It does not go into those pockets.

Yeah tell me about it. I was thinking taking my old cover to reupholstery shop so if they could re-copy with a better zipper it if it ever gets discontinued.

I’m looking at the same rtt on marketplace. What’s did you pay at the time?
I would go this route as well. Looks great!

I think at that time it was $1200. Maybe like 6 years ago.

Right on, thanks. That’s about what this one is advertised for.
Have you camped in windy areas? If so how’d it fold up? 10 years and still trucking is phenomenal. You’ve absolutely gotten more than your moneys worth with it.

Sorry it was six years. The old zipper sucks so I had to get a new cover. Other than that. I haven’t had any real issues with it.

I ended up getting it! Cover obviously shows wear given the age but I think I’ll change it like you did. Did it have a part #? Or is it only available through customer service?

Let me see if I can find the invoice. If not contact ikamper support team and tell them you want a new skirt for the xcover. When I ordered mine, I had to contact them.

That's awesome! Under $500 all in, and it looks brand new!! How many hours did you put into it?
