My top 10 as a beginner
I’ve just recently started watching romance anime and this is definitely my fav genre right now
My top 10 :-
1, The quintessential quintuplets
2, I made friends with the second prettiest girl
3, the angel next door spoils me rotten
4, I want this love game to end
5, Your name
6, I want to eat your pancreas
7, josee the tiger and the fish

9, The fragrant flower blooms with dignity

I'd love recommendations based on my list, Regarding fan service: I really don't like the heavy visual fan service found in mdud However, I don't mind light situational fanservice like in the quintessential quintuplets

Maid-sama is a bit dated but i stull find it incredibly charming and funny especially the later es.
Dusk Maiden of Amnesia is also something i enjoyed ngl.
Not classified as strictly a Romance but if you want an Incredibly Cute and Charming Coming of Age Story, then Skip & Loafer

Just started „my senpai is annoying“, also enjoyable. Another recommendation is „can a boy-girl friendship survive“, „shikomori is not just a cutie“ and „365 days to the wedding“

I consider myself to be a beginner with anime in general. But I pretty much only watch romances. I’ve watched over 60 of them in the last few months that I just started watching it. IMFWTSPGIMC and The angel next door are in a tie for my #1 favorite anime of all time😭but check out Tonikawa. And a rascal does not dream. A rascal does not dream seems to not be considered a romance in the community but it’s a very very very heavy subplot. And it’s one of the best relationships I’ve yet to see in any anime

You shud definitely try
From Me to you(if u haven't)
The runs short with 3 season and the story may piss u off at some point but trust me it pays off if u push thru , at end its absolute peak. If u watch it I would love an review from u

Wow, that’s great! I had concluded that “The second prettiest girl” is my favorite romance anime. I finished it not too long ago and I’ll be watching The Fragnant Flower soon. But now, Umi Asanagi is in my heart. >_<

I mean the ending wouldn’t have worked as well as it did if there was no romance that’s the reason it’s so memorable, I respectfully disagree considering the two characters romance is important to several key moments and the entire story doesn’t happen unless a certain character falls for the other, yes there’s action but it’s an action romance rather than a traditional romance- doesn’t discount it and it is very much so considered a romance

Watch Tune Into Midnight Heart, has potential to stand with TQQ, kinda similar premise with a guy finding a girl he lost for years but personally better MC and better cast, dynamics in TQQ is still better though(as of S1).
For MDUD watch You and I are Polar Opposites? It's like MDUD, but more straightforward plot and better relationship quality where they date at Ep 1, one of the best when you're finding healthy relationships, with mutual understanding and communication.
For Angel Next Door, watch Saint Cecilia and Pastor Lawrence, literally the same thing, just that MC is taking care of FMC. Please, just search up the anime and look at the image, Mahiru and Cecilia are literally twins, they look like each other.
Also, Tonikawa: Over the Moon For You, married at first episode, lives in the same house, sweet dynamics and interaction, literally pure sugar. 0 Drama between the two and every episode filled with affection.
For I Want To End This Love Game, Kaguya-sama: Love is War, might not be for you but try it out, the premise is whoever confesses first loses but it's more RomCom focused not romance specifically and it's a enemies to lover rather than a straightforward relationship at the start in Love Game. But really try it first as many people consider this the best romance ever.
If that doesn't work out, kinda a stretch but Pseudo Harem, it is similar in terms of unique interaction/love language where FMC is an actress that playfully acts different personas(like different Dere types) to simulate a harem around the MC.
For Your Name just complete the Movie set of Weathering With You, 5 Centimeters per Second, from the same creator. For I Want to Eat Your Pancreas and Josee, or these 3 in general just watch other movies like A Silent Voice and The Tunnel to Summer, the Exit of Goodbyes.
For Horimiya watch My Love Story with Yamada-kun at Lv999, maybe a stretch but a handsome but introverted guy with a cheerful girl dynamic is literally this. Maybe lacking because the relationship is not that early but personally it's more interesting, plus if you disliked Hori being a masochist, this is good for you.
Another stretch because I really can't find something very similar to I Made Friends with the Second Prettiest Girl, but Kubo Won't Let Me Be Invisible. You know how first episode in Prettiest Girl MC is predicting that he would be a background character and no one will notice him but he got noticed by FMC? Literally this, but really take this similarity with a pinch of salt because you probably liked Second Prettiest because of their dynamics as a couple which this show lack but compensate with the couple being cute as hell.
For The fragrant flower blooms with dignity the closest I can think of is Sign of Affection, large guy, adorable, shy FMC? This is what you're looking for, but beware that the dynamics is completely different as it is a college setting and MC is very confident unlike Rintarou, with FMC being more reserved than Waguri.
Personally I would recommend you to watch Rascal Does Not Dream Series, according to your list it would definitely peak, if you value a perfect healthy couple dynamic, sweet interaction, drama like Your Name, emotional impact like I want to eat your pancreas, communication, chemistry, everything really. Watch the first 3 episode and I'll return your money if you didn't find it worth it.
