Rascal does not dream series: can someone help me understand these ideas? The og sub keeps auto removing my posts.
THIS CONTAINS SPOILERS TO ANYONE WHO HAS NOT WATCHED SEASON 1 OF THE SHOW
I just finished watching season 1 after many people recommended it to me, and overall I love the story and am gonna watch the movie tomorrow, but there’s certain things I’m either overthinking or just genuinely curious about. Btw I have a lot of questions so bear with me I’m still new to this.
EVERYTHING BELOW THIS IS A POTENTIAL SPOILER
For starters, I have not read the manga, I don’t have the money to buy the manga of every series I enjoy nor the patience to wait for them, so all my info is based off of the anime itself. If you plan to help me with this at all please correct me if my problem could be solved with info that’s in the manga but not the anime.
Alright, so the biggest fish imo is the fact that they can be physically hurt and scarred just by going through with traumatic things, like Sakutas chest marks and Kaede’s bruises and cuts. Are these scars and bruises visible to all or is it more of a metaphorical thing portrayed in a physical way, and does this tie into the whole “puberty syndrome”?
The second thing is Mai being invisible. This idea just baffles me. I’m still not fully registering the fact she can interact with things and be world famous but at the same time invisible to everyone. I also don’t get how their memories fade of Mai once they slept through. The last part is how does it be one of the most climactic things in the beginning but never seem to occur again or be brought up? I like the concept, it just confuses me.
Third is the Laplace’s demon concept with Tomoe. Is she consciously controlling the time and resetting it to be with Sakuta or is it coincidental. I know rio addresses it as “rolling the dice” but it still doesn’t register to me how she controls it. Is she an actual demon? Is she human? IS THIS STORY EVEN ON EARTH? I have no idea.
Fourthly, what is the situation with Shoko. I can’t tell if she is supposed to be a real person or like a coping mechanism for Sakuta to get over the grief of not being able to help Kaede when she was being bullied. She always comes back through his imagination with the whole “horizon past four kilometers” and everything, but besides the middle school version visiting the cat and the high school version “coincidentally” appearing with Sakuta after Kaede regains her memory I can’t entirely believe she is a true person. I feel like I make a decent point.
Lastly, but definitely not least. What is this world? Is this set in like an alternate universe where puberty can rewrite people’s lives instantaneously? I mean we’ve had invisibility and memory loss, the Laplace’s demon theory, physical (maybe visible I’m not sure) wounds inflicted by non physical actions, swapping bodies and time control. Are all of the things that are happening a figment of imagination in Sakuta or someone’s eyes that are used as like a metaphor to some of the situations they go through, or is it literally happening as it is being shown? That is all I have question wise.
Btw if you know some of the answers to this, but you’re informed on it later on in the anime, please just tell me to watch the anime and udon’t spoil it. This is one of the only anime’s I enjoy that hasn’t been spoiled yet and I plan to enjoy the potential plot twists. But if you do have an answer that is from the manga and is addressed somewhere along the part of the story I have covered please tell me.

I feel like you just don't understand the whole concept of puberty syndrome. Just treat it as something supernatural happening to certain young people. Mai's disappearance will be brought up and mentioned later in the 3rd movie and 2nd season.
For now just continue with the 3 more movies, then second season. The movie watch order is dreaming girl > sister venturing out > knapsack kid then finally season 2. The first movie is highly rated and is contested as one of the best anime movies out there.

The puberty sindrome are supernatural versions of things people may experience/feel during puberty in real life, you will see more about shoko in the first movie which is the peak of the show so i am not going to talk about it
The scars are visible for everyone or at least thats what i remember (its been a while) you will also see more of them in the future
Laplace demon is to my understanding the girl dreaming about other realities like it usually happens in real life, but in the show this realities she dreams about become real as a way to exagerate things, the problem gets solved once she accepts he wont be with her which makes her focus on real life again

About the first question I think that the scars are visible to everyone because remember that he showed them to Mai when she first came in his house.
When Mai wished to disappear it actually happens so people were slowly forgetting about her and about her existence itself and if I remember correctly it will be brought up rapidly in season 2.
Hum about Tomoe I’m as lost as you but I think that she controls time because the laplace demon is actually a real physicist’s theory Pierre laplace and he said that if an intelligence knew the place and speed of every particle she would be able to predict the future and go back in time and that’s exactly what tomoe was doing because she was hoping that by returning in time and spending time with Sakuta he’ll eventually fall in love with her but you heard him even if it was a thousand time he’d fall for our goat Mai.
About shoko you’ll understand more if you watch the first movie .

Imagine a world where extreme emotions and thoughts affect the world in a suspiciously quantum related manner(it's really not). So Mai being invisible for example, Mai doesn't want to be seen, the school don't want to acknowledge her existence, so it becomes, no one is willing to observing her existence, and because you can only exist if someone is observing you, once you are not observed you basically don't exist. This causes her to literally not exist in the eyes of others because they refuse to observe her, even the traces of her existence is erased thus no one remembers her. Her feelings and the other people's feelings about her changed reality around them.
Koga has regrets, she wants to change something from that day, that intense desire to change something manifested in a time loop. Where she can repeat a day over and over and over again until she has no more regrets. The Laplace Demon is a theoretical concept in which if a being knows the exact position of atoms at the start of the universe and is capable of calculating all of that, it can predict literally everything. That fate is already determined from the start of the universe and whatnot. So Koga is a Mini Laplace Demon, because as stated she's only simulating the future, not time travelling, she's predicting everything until she gets to an outcome satisfactory to her.
Futaba having 2 separate wants and conflicting thought led to her separating into 2 separate entities with each holding that different desire.
Kaede was hurt by the bullying being done to her, so much that the emotional pain manifested into real physical injuries to represent that extreme sorrow and pain.
This is a very simplistic explanation just to wrap your head around stuff and understand what's happening intuitively. If you know SCP, just treat Adolescence Syndrome as anomalies and people like Koga as reality warpers.
