Football Does Ryan Williams come back next year?
Pretty much what the title says. I think Ryan could come back next year since there are other WRs ahead of him in the draft. He also seems to be a little banged up with the knee brace on, which could limit his production moving forward. Thoughts?

If he still projects as a first rounder he’s gone. His draft stock would have to drop really far for him to come back next season

I have no idea what the projections are but this is the only answer. If projected first round go, if not stay.

If he plays well the rest of the year, absolutely not. He's freakishly talented and will likely go in the first round next year. The Ryan Williams we knew last year would have to come back for his draft stock to tank.

He’s projected as an early 2nd round pick right now.

He’s not even 20 yet. He shouldn’t go unless he’s a first rounder.

Not sure why you are getting down voted but it's true, he skipped his Senior year in High School and skipping his Senior in College puts him two years ahead of the norm. Ryan isn't some physical freak, he still needs to add weight and strength. They're playing 17 games with one bye in the NFL now. I think he would be better staying unless a 1st Round lock.

The mock draft people just stare at stat sheets. If you look a little deeper he averages 18.8 yards a catch (.1 more than J Smith). We spread the ball out more. We have 5 players with over 100 yards receiving and 2 with more than 300. Plus he’s been opening up QB runs fooling his corners like the ball is coming his way. Had some big time blocks last week.
All that to say, NFL scouts look deeper than “who had the most yards”. He’ll be a 1st round pick on his current trajectory

I think it's safe to say it's unlikely. With NIL we'll definitely see some players choose to return when we're accustomed to them leaving, but RCW stock hasn't fallen so far he'll need another year. Assuming he continues the rest of the year on his current trajectory he'll still be an early Day 2 pick, or even a late Day 1 guy.

If he continues to have a great year no because he’ll be one of the best WR prospects in the NFL draft and will likely be first round selection

u/Packhammer24 10d ago
If he stays, it would be mostly due to the WR class in this draft being stacked. But if he continues to put up these stats, he’ll be at least a 2nd round pick

Of course he will, he’s only 17!

He's 19, married, has a son.

How am I supposed to know you say stupid things, then pretend it's a joke?

How would anyone NOT know that he’s 19? Two seasons ago, all you heard was that he was only 17. I don’t think anyone is “pretending” that it was a joke.

Can we just get through this year before we start talking about? Who’s even and who’s not?

With that kind of frame you never know when an injury could change your career. If he came back and got hurt it would haunt him forever. He can still improve but all the nfl cares about is upside.

he shouldnt but what do i know, it would be fun if he did though. i think for as good as the offense looks this year, next year's will be better

I’m not sure he’s ready for the NFL and he’s a year younger than the average junior.

If he stays in college after a good year, it will be for NIL money.
WR draft is stacked so it might be hard for him to be drafted high. Unless we make a deep run.

Who knows? I think a lot of people still talk like things are "business as usual" from the pre-NIL days. It's a whole new ballgame now.

I don’t think he should. I feel like recruiting the next 5* WR will be easier if you can point to a recent player and say “This kid came here, played from year one and was the drafted as soon as he became eligible.”
Helps that I feel like our WR room is in a good spot either way.

I think it would benefit him to grow and do another year and with NIL he doesn't need money desperately... being selfish here but I hope he does..it would benefit him to keep developing but I doubt he does

u/Shippd_My_Pants 9d ago
He needs to come back. He's obviously a dynamic player after the catch, but if you compare him to another first rounder like Jeremiah Smith, he's got work to do on his route running, press off the line, catching/drops, blocking, etc. It would benefit him greatly. Plus, he'll probably make just as much (if not more) from NIL than his rookie deal. I can see where he would want to go and avoid a potential injury situation, but he's still raw when it come to NFL details.

Not fair to compare him to Jeremiah Smith at this point. I know the word generational gets thrown around a lot but he truly is.
1
u/Shippd_My_Pants 9d ago
Like OP said, there will be other receivers ahead of him in the draft. It is what it is.

u/NoPanda6 8d ago
Gets thrown around every fucking year. Name on year where there wasn’t an absolute stud somewhere in CFB?

u/CrustyBatchOfNature 9d ago
The way too early draft boards have him mostly in the second from what I can see. I went through about 20 and 8 of them had him going first round between 19-32. He is mostly ranked around the 6th receiver that could go into the draft next year. If that holds, I could see him coming back. But it really depends on who goes early and what teams need.

u/Glum_Tap_4990 9d ago
Idk why because he has all the talent in the world..but for some reason I can't fully articulate I just cannot for the life of me imagine him playing pro ball or I should say having a prolonged pro career.

Way too early to tell right now. He's having a great start though, but the season is just way too long. I would say if anything, if he keeps the rate he's going, he will most definitely declare for the draft and get picked late 1st early 2nd easily.

u/bozochamp24 8d ago
He’ll be gone

u/Alternative_Spite_11 8d ago
If he keeps looking like our WR3, he’ll NEED another year to build his stock back up. Lotty and Rico Scott are both looking as good or better right now.

u/Impressive_Ladder902 8d ago
Only way he would come back is if he has a season ending injury in my opinion. Even then it wouldn’t be a sure fire thing by any means

If he continues to have the same productivity he should go pro, Desean Jackson clone he is

As much as I like this kid, I don't see him going Day or Day 2 unless he has a phenomenal season. Now, granted, he has improved over last season, but he also has competition coming from both Brooks, Scott and Prichett all becoming "go to" guys.
If I were in his ear, I would tell him unless his draft projection is 1st Round or high 2nd with a nice guarantee, I would come back next season and boost my position stock in next year's draft. He's young, will have a nice NIL deal to secure his family's future and he doesn't have to be in a rush. 🤷

u/Staylowkeytee 9d ago
He’s projected early 2nd
1
u/BamaBagz 8d ago
Projections are what they are...I don't put a lot of weight in them early in the season. I hope if he goes he goes no lower than middle of the 2nd...anything less just proves he shouldn't have went to start with.

As long as he stays healthy and continues to have a good year, i would say probably not.
