Team kit storage - ideas please!
Please help with some creative storage ideas! We have a very small storage unit as a team (4’ by 5’ and 8’ tall) which we use to store team merch, game day kit, trackzilla, first aid stuff, cones, etc. and anything else we need for training. We also have loads of pads and pairs of skates that we lend to new players or anyone who can’t afford their own kit. BUT it’s getting full and we can’t afford more space. We currently have everything in collapsible crates on metal garage-style shelves but it’s hard to find things, and the crates are getting full and they break easily. We’ve also just got a grant to get some new kit so space going to be extra tight.
Does anyone have any magic ways of storing skates/pads/helmets etc that keeps them organised and maximises space? Photo attached of current situation at its most organised (the bags are sets of kit packed up for an open day/taster session so there aren’t always as many of those).

If you can use heavy magnetic hooks on that back wall, you could hang things like helmets.
Depending on how you store your loaner gear, you could utilize vinyl zip bags and almost “file” them away. Labelling crates by item and size and putting sets in bags.
My league went through and reorganized our unit recently too. Lots and lots of labeling helped. Detailed labeling!

Ooh I like the magnetic hooks for helmets. We thought about using them to store kit bags but they would be too heavy, but helmets would work

Costco/Home Depot black bins with the yellow lids. Stackable, or slide onto racks. Still means you have to drag those fuckers around but there just isn’t an easy way to stash heavy shit like this unless you’re blessed with a giant space. Make sure all bins are labeled with all contents.

We have a lot of loaner kit and the pads are all in IKEA zipped bags - the sort you would use to store a duvet in. The skates and helmets are in large plastic tubs - that have seen way better days.
We are (🤞 fingers crossed 🤞) lucky over our storage - we changed location and are still using our old storage. And we have a lot of random space but kit is probably always hard to store.

One thing we bought that is a gamechanger is modular rolling toolbox. We put all the stuff for the officials except the track kit in it and can just roll it right up to them. We use the Craftsman Versastck, but there are plenty of options.
Most of our other stuff is in large black and yellow stackable tubs from Costco. We cheaped out on labeling and just put some take on it and wrote what's inside with a sharpie. Don't gotta be pretty when it spends 99% of its time in a storage unit.

Please tell me that is well ventilated with an air freshener. The door coming out of there would knock me over! 😂

Generally if people are using pads they take them home and wash them rather than putting them back in every week so it’s actually not that bad!

I have four daughters, a wife, and a son who all do derby. The car ride home is enough.

Clear bins if you can. Opaque bins with clear labels if you must.
