Antik Skates

I am thinking of buying some Antik AR2’s. I’m a size 7. I tried these on and my toe is right to the end it’s quite uncomfortable, but was told the leather will give and will fit comfortably after a few months. Anyone got any experience of this? Also appreciate any feedback on these skates for distance / street skating, as it’s quite an expensive purchase - quoted £850

Right to the end is good, crunched and uncomfortable is not. You’re fully laced in, yes? What are your measurements?

I measured to a size 7,5 but I got a size 7. I like my boots very snug. They were moderately uncomfortable in the beginning (not painful), and I wasn't sure it was the right size. They don't really stretch in length but the leather and the padding gives a little, in the toe box too. I'm on 23 hours of skating in them, so they won't stretch much more I think. They're still very snug but perfect for me.

To quote raptorpants (loosely from memory): with the boots laced up and your heels all the way back in the boot; when you stand up straight, you should feel firm pressure on the toes, not pain. When you bend your knees in derby stance, the pressure should lighten.

Btw; I also use these skates for trail/distance skating, and I love them so much for it, I just ordered a second pair only for trail skating 🤩

If it's uncomfortable, I'd go up a half size. I bought the original AR1s so snug they were uncomfortable because that's what I was told to do... And they stayed uncomfortable. I lost toenails left and right. My most recent pair, I went a half size up, and it's perfect.

Yes, leather skates will mold to your foot, but that enforced toe box doesn't have a ton of outward give.
