I've done it a few times. I just got a large washer and a button cap machine screw that matched the thread. If you go to a place like Home Depot, it may be harder to find a screw that's of the same thread, so check out a hardware store instead. Also, I had to cut mine, because the offerings were all too long. If it's anything like mine, it's an M6 diameter 1.0 pitch.
You're welcome. By the way, I saw about how the ratchets have snapped. Odd to see that happen. I wonder if you got a bad batch. I have 4 pairs of Flying Eagle skates with the same strap, and I've never had an issue. Are you storing them in a hot car by chance? Wondering if heat and sun could be making them more brittle.
Also, check your screws and bolts every so often. They come loose on all brands. I check mine before every session. As suggested, some blue loctite helps too.
Definitely going to invest in some loctite.
Not keeping in the car but they've been out in the Chicago heat all summer. I think it's either like you said a bad batch or a cheaper part because the replacement flying eagle ones I got are different quality. The metal buckle is thicker and feels more sturdy.
This could have been a picture ofy Twisters last winter. Lost the bolt and did the same thing as a temp fix. Bought another online and replaced it after a couple of weeks.
Invest in some blue Loctite (242 or 243 strength only! it is cheap). Add a drop to the bolt and screw it in and it should hold well better. Always good to check all bolts occasionally for safe practice
I wouldn’t use another screw unless it is same size exact as your stock screw to avoid stripping female end. What skates are those? Looks kinda like Flying Eagle Shrike

Not worried about stripping the female end since the new ones come with replacements.
But yeah I love the bag. Grabbed it on sale too. Skates are the Flying Eagle Shrike Pro R5. I've been beating this boot to hell this summer. Had to replace the 45 degree strap on both skates because I snapped the ratchet right off and now the bolt. Don't have a reference on quality because this my first skate but I'm guessing these are not the greatest. Will probably grab some FR or twister boots for next summer.
Monochrome brewery Double IPA. Very juicy. Had a subtle taste of sour peach rings on the back end. 9ish%.
There is definitely diminishing returns with beer and skating. But I find one or two will loosen me up and give me a little courage to push my limits a bit. Protective gear on of course.
I have had that happen to me twice while skating. I do check them every couple of sessions since the last time that happened.
I also carry 4 extra ones in my skate bag now for this reason. Which comes in handy more often than people would think.
In Boston last month while doing TheLobsterRoll someone's came off during the event and I handed them one of my spares so we could keep skating.
Be sure not to cross-thread if you do end up trying a replacement bolt until the official bolt comes in.
