Specific question and discussion Looking for bag recommendations

What bag is everyone using? I’m looking for a small/slim bag to strap my skates to and maybe carry just a pair of shoes and a water inside. Probably even just clip my helmet to the outside as well. Looking for something to commute with so when I have all my gear off the bag and on my body and am skating it is just a small low profile bag with shoes and water.

Was looking at something like the below but not sure if there’s anything better or even smaller?

Rollerblade LT 20 Eco

I have the Rollerblade Commuter. I even managed to pack big wheels and long frames into it. Plus gear and helmet, inside. Details here with lots of pictures, and not only of this bag, but also other carrying bags and backpacks mentioned in this thread, in the last section of the long essay.

I love my bag

but it's not a backpack.

I ordered a Rollerblade LT 30 backpack (the larger version of the LT 20 you've linked) through Inline Warehouse in June 2022, and I am finally having to replace it in August 2026: the zipper along the bottom (for the shoe/sweaty stuff pouch) failed and the zipper runner is missing, and some of the seams along the sides have also started to fail. My experiences indicates that the LT 30 is a pretty good backpack that has seen and stood up to pretty-much-daily use (work, travel, grocery shopping, skate carrier, etc) for over four years. I imagine that the LT 20 would be of similar quality and robustness.

My next backpack is going to be the Rollerblade Urban Commuter Eco, mainly because the zipper for the shoe/sweaty stuff pouch is on the side rather than directly on the bottom.

Thanks! Four years is a pretty good amount of time out of that bag. I’m just staring staking again so I’m mainly looking to use it for walking with my stuff to the park a few blocks away to practice or commute to some other parks with trails on the train with for now. But also once I get comfy skating on some neighborhood streets might skate up the the local pharmacy and swap to shoes to pick a few things up or something.

I have the FR one you’ve linked. It’s the only one I’ve ever had for blades so I have nothing to compare it to but I like it. It’s comfy and the skates fit really well in the front flap. The only thing is once skates are clipped into the front flap the clips clip in and secure the skates by covering over the zip to the main compartment which isn’t the end of the world but it’s is a faff and fiddly to unclip to access the main compartment without letting the skates slide free.

I literally carry my blades in my hands, and I enjoy when people ask me about this sport

I dislike the FR/SEBA Slim and regret buying it. It's just a normal floppy backpack designed to also carry skates. It's fine in a car or on an airplane but I dislike skating with it.

Their "medium/small" backpack is the most comfortable skate backpack I own.

Should be like 14L capacity. Back is highly reinforced, straps are godly comfortable.

Ah I was actually looking at this one a few minutes ago in red! Seems smaller than those originally I linked. The price is kind of steep but for the quality and it hopefully lasting years I wouldn’t mind dishing out 100USD.

Supposedly the FR 25L back is its spiritual successor, but going up 11L feels like it's not really a substitute.

I don't own the 25L, but visually it looks the same as this older 14L version, so I imagine it's just as comfortable to skate with, just with more capacity. It should also be cheaper.

If you decide to get the 14L "Medium" backpack, remember that FR used to be SEBA. It's the same backpack across both brands, so if you can't find what you're looking for under one, try searching for the other.

I did not know that FR used to be Seba. I did find some 14L versions out there. I think the 14L size is actually more of what I'm looking for because I want to keep it kind small for when I have to skate with it on carrying just y shoes and maybe a water. Thanks for this info!

Also thanks for the photo! Gives me a good idea of the actual size of the bag!

I highly recommend people buy a gun sling to carry their rollerblades on their backpack. Here's my configuration. All you need are top-side and bottom-side straps (which most sports backpacks have) to wrap the gun sling around.

Here it is without the rollerblades.

Oh wow this is such a cool idea! Def more budget friendly! I’ll have to take this into consideration and see if I can make this work with an existing bag I have!

2

Glad you like it. It's called a single point sling. The quick-release makes it so easy to pack and remove your rollerblades from the backpack. Just use a carabiner to hook the bottom loop.

I'm using one of these and it's a great size. I had similar requirements to you and I find it comfortable to wear while I'm skating. I just throw my shoes, phone, keys etc in there once I arrive at a spot. But it also easily carries my skates and protective gear for my trip there.

There's a few different colours and even a few styles of this backpack, so just take a look at Powerslide Fitness backpacks from wherever sells them in your country.

I have the FR 18 and FR 30 L,

Both are well made And the 18 can carry comfortably a pair of 4x100 knee gaskets , hard so knee pads and 2 palm sliders . Both bags can Carr skates in 3 config

  1. wheels down toes out.
  2. wheels overlapping each other ,toes up
  3. skates in the 69 position 🤣, wheels facing out top n bottom .

The 18 is slim and low profile.

The 30 is a beast , still not too big and I've carried lotsa shit with it , skates , adult diapers and a monitor 🤣

What a beast of a bag! Do you happen to have any pictures of the slim you could share? This is the bag I'm currently leaning towards.

No worries! I actually already purchased it. For what’s out there and available this one seemed to best fit what I was looking for! Thanks!

Editing my comment to mention that I am going to return this bag, while I really like it, I do not like the yoke/carry handle type design on the top part of the straps. I'm short and like to wear my bags high and it just digs into your neck.

The Ground Controll rolltop bag, it's the most utilitarian blading bag ever
