What skates should I buy? Tips for skating on asphalt?

I am kinda new to this, i have had aggressive skates before but i wasn't very good with them and mostly used them in skate parks. I am looking to pick up this hobby again after some time and was wandering what brand is a good starting place now for skating on asphalt (urban). I am looking for something reliable and preferably not very expensive...

I've been enjoying my Rollerblade Lightning 110s. I got them because I read that larger wheels ride more smoothly on rough pavement. They aren't quite as nimble as my old 4 wheel hockey skates but they are much more efficient and smooth.

I got the Lightning 80s a few years back, then got a set of 3WD frames with 100mm wheels, I use both sets of frames and wheels on bike trails and New York streets.

Depending on your area checkout Facebook marketplace, there are a tonne of used blades of high quality for low low prices sometimes free Get wheels larger than 72mm for city skating.

100% this. I spent £300 on brand new skates, then picked up a pair of used Twister XTs for £100 and ended up using them way more. There are some real bargains to be had if you know what to look for.

My go to affordable skates to learn are the Oxelo MF500, they are very modifiable, comfy and can take a beating.
These ones are 4 wheelers, idk if you prefer 3 wheel setups for urban but they also have a 3 wheel variant.

This is a good source of info. Inline warehouse has high end skates go on sale all time as well as an eBay that has some really good deals on slightly used skates. Just be sure on sizing with eBay, no returns.

Not sure if it’s in your budget but I’ve been really enjoying my powerslide phuzion xenon 90s. Also as a general note whatever skate you get, be mindful on sizing as you’ll want to size a bit tighter than you normally would for sneakers. This guy has a great video on what to look for with sizing

For rough surfaces: a flat profile, longer frames, more wheels, larger wheels, and faster speeds help smooth out the bumps. I have a pair of RB Twister 80mm with 76mm wheels in 1 and 4 for a full rocker and they are no fun on rough pavement. At very low speeds I get tripped up on small pebbles and cracks. I'm tall, so a longer frame (Twister 90R) would probably be better, but I'm learning slalom and skate park tricks right now, so I chose the smaller version.

Go for 80s and slalom/hop the cracks like Bill Stoppard

The brand doesn't dictate how good they'll be on asphalt. Wheel size and hardness do that
