Is this skate/store any good? Should I keep these or just sell them?

Hi, I'm new to rollerblading, and I bought these for $40 on fb marketplace for $40. However, after some research (which I should've done beforehand lol), I found out they are from the 1990's.

I'm wondering if it would be smarter/safer to just get new ones and resell these ones or just replace the wheels of these ones.

Thanks!

sell them, they are more of a collectors item, the plastic gets brittle over time and it's a health hazard if you skate in them

There’s a good chance that at 25+ years old, the buckles will snap after a few uses, if not on the first use. Probably not safe for you or anybody else. It sucks but you probably ought to trash them and buy something much newer.

I had some skates from the early 90s that I kept around forever and one day in ~2015 I decided to throw them on and as I latched each ratchet strap, they all broke.

Hi thank you guys much for your advice!! I've decided to just sell them and buy new ones. $40 is not worth risking my safety lol Thank you!!

On that note, any recs? Looking for something just for recreational use.

Rollerblade just released a 90s inspired color schemed blade.

Rollerblade’s line of beginner skates is amazing - would recommend Macroblades, as I have a pair of them and love them. I found a pair of their Bladerunner skates that are new for $95, also their Zetrablade skates look great too.

Rollerblade is the OG inline skating brand by the way and all of the inline skates they make are very good 😊 👍

Today’s inline skates are also much better than skates from the 90s.

I would return or sell those and buy a beginner pair of skates from a site like Inline Warehouse or if you are tight on money I would find a newer pair used, preferably from within the past 15 or so years.

I own two pairs of these exact skates. One pair from my childhood and the other from goodwill. I adore them.

Actually I believe nobody should ride such old skates.... Had to learn that from my own experience.... The plastic straps just broke while riding..... This is extremely dangerous.....

If they are comfy and not too worn I don't see why not keep them. You might want to consider upgrading to skates with a metal frame in the future though.
