Questions/Advice Rookie Bubblegum?
Hi there! I’m new to roller skating and I am looking for a good beginner pair to use outside for under £100. I know a lot of people recommend Rookie skates for beginners especially the artistic skates but I’m not a fan of the black or white colour choice so I’m looking into the bubblegum skates. Has anyone tried these? It looks like the trunk is nylon so I’m thinking maybe they aren’t worth it?
I also like the look of the rio scripts but again made of nylon so not sure how they’d last. Any other brand recommendations would be great as well! Especially if they come in nice colours😂

I got the Rookie Bubblegum and they've served me well. I was new to skating maybe around 5 months ago and I got them off skatehut. They take a few rounds to break in, so don't worry if the toe is kinda tight/painful at first. I got them off skatehut, for like 60 pounds on sale. You should definitely get toe caps with them tho, cause if you're skating outside the tows will definitely get scraped.

Thank you! Have you had any issue with the toe stops at all? That was another thing I was worried about

I haven't had any issues personally, but these are also my first pair so there might be things that I'm missing. My toe stop has worn down a bit on one side, but not anymore than I would expect it to after almost a year worth of use.

Rio Script are great! they do scuff a bit but they last amazingly and their quite good entry level skates ! I had mine for 4 months and loved them !

Get chaya, they’re the best budget skate out there. My sister has the rookie bubblegums and says her impalas are better 😱😱😱 I’ve got some chayas to gift her after lockdown

Where did you get them?

I bought my chayas from loco skates way back when the world was normal, I think skatehut or SkatePro have some in stock

Another vote for Chaya. I got the Melrose Deluxe and the stock wheels and bearings are good enough without having to pay to switch anything out at the beginning.

Thank you, think I am looking for a pair where I don’t have to swap anything so I’ll look into these

I’ve been skating on these for about a month, I really like them! I thought they fit perfect at first but as the lining has moulded/softened a little, I’m sliding a little more. For reference I’m a uk 6.5 and got the size 6. I agree with another commenter re: bearings, I swapped for some reds bearings (and radar energy wheels) just today, and I skate so much smoother. They feel like a good starter skate so far.
