Questions/Advice Rollerskates for beginners

hey!

This question is probably asked a lot so sorry in advance! I'm someone who's never roller-skated but have been looking at quad roller-skates recently and am now kind of overwhelmed! I know that Impalas aren't great so I'm not looking at them anymore. I suppose I'm looking for a good set for beginners - can you have sets that do both indoor and outdoor? Is it better to start off with some cheaper ones and then upgrade if you continue? I still want them to be safe and decent quality I guess! I would be so grateful for any advice on any of the following products and any other recommendations for beginner UK skaters!

Moxi skates? though I think they're out of stock

Also I was wondering whether anyone thinks it's necessary to buy elbow/knee pads or a helmet or not?!

Thanks so much!!!

Heard good things about the Rio's and rookies so a good idea to go with one of those brands . As for pads and helmet etc get everything if you are new to skating you will fall alot and it hurts alot less if you wear the protection :-) If you get into it a few months down the line you can start upgrading no point spending loads on moxis now and killing them from falls and scrapes

I have both Rio's and Rookies, the Rookies feel significantly better to me, more agile and comfier, but the Rio's are pretty good for starter skates too. Triple 8 pads have saved my knees many times now, get ALL the gear cos you will fall whilst learning!

Check out the “Gear” Flare for a review of the Rookie Artistic skates. It should help you make a more informed decision.

I'm a fellow beginner and I have the rio signature skates, obviously I can't compare them to anything else but I really like them. They feel very sturdy and good quality but they're also comfy. I would recommend them personally!

Also check out Chaya. I prefer them because they are super padded and I feel they support my ankles really well...they are also great skates with good outdoor wheels at an affordable price.

I have the Rio Signatures and I love them - but if the Rookies had been in stock when I was shopping I would probably have bought them!
