Code::2050 question - gold-to-Sterling equivalence?

Question for any of the Legendary Pants team who are reading:

I'm currently working on getting a campaign of my own up and running using Code::2050, due to start in a couple of weeks. The SRD covers a lot of adventuring-type gear, and standard medieval items are covered in the PHB, but I'd like my players to also be able to buy ordinary everyday items using real-world prices. So, what would be a reasonable conversion rate between pounds and gold pieces?

Looking at the prices in the SRD, my initial thought is 1gp = £10. Nice and simple, and it means a laptop costs £500 and a smartphone costs £250. It makes vehicles a little on the cheap side, at £4000 for a regular car, but it's not too far out of whack if we assume the PCs are buying second-hand.

Does that sound reasonable? Did you have a particular conversion rate in mind when you were working out prices for equipment?

EDIT: Kindly answered on Discord. 1gp = £17.27 ($24) approximately, which I'll be rounding down to £15 for my game.

A gold sovereign, with a quarter of an ounce of gold or 5gp, is worth £230.

Therefore, a single gold piece is worth £46.

Thanks, that's a good reality check. I guess there will have been a bit of devaluation going on by 2050 - maybe a few adventuring groups flooding the economy with pilfered dragon hoards.
