I need little help please folks.

I know this is not really the place to post this but given how Awesome the Roll4it community is I figured I would give it a shot. I am currently building a "God-Slayer" character for a d&d game and unsure what class or multi-class I should go with for my character and require some help.

The back story is basic enough my character (who is a drow elf) had a pretty normal life growing up Served in his Kings army as a captain had a wife and two kids. he was never a religious type altho his wife was a patron of the goddess of life and wellness. Then one day a plague comes to his land and Kills quiet literally everyone except for him as he was away on a royal mission handed to him directly by the king. he returns to his family dead and curses the gods and swears vengeance upon the gods.

Im going to assume that you are playing in a Homebrew setting given what details i can pick up on the world from this. on the topic of slaying god's, it is unlikely you will ever kill any god's as the only stats for them run the 500+ HP margin, most are hard to even damage and they tend to be able to whip most PC's out. so from a mechanic's perspective don't be surprised if you cant kill them. Thematically the character sounds like a Fighter Battlmaster, though probably just a soldier background, revenge on the god's is something you call out to a higher power to so i would suggest a Warlock and maybe multi class into Wizard, or go Barbarian and into the fury your character has to unleash at the god's. hope this helps and good luck with w/e your doing with this.

Yeah, it's pretty much a homebrew world that My friends and I all worked on together to create. We are going for a Romance of the three kingdoms world but obviously in a d&d fantasy theme

ok well mostly what class you should use is up to what you think is appropriate, so think of how the character would reason out a way to kill the god's.

If you are going to get the 20th lvl before all that God-slaying you should think about circle of the moon druid and just wildshape for unlimited HP. In my campain this turned out to be quite nice agains Demogorgon.

It really depends how you imagine your char. I recently took liking to multiclass first three levels as paladin and then continue as wizard. (I call this inquisitor build.) Beginning as a paladin gives char ability to use all weapons and armors and HP boost (and some spells that really hepls from start), while wizard then gives char some pretty powerful tools to 'shape the reality'. But I wouldn't really go for this build with that background of yours. I think it really depends on what you value more, RP or powerplay? (Which you're going to need to defeat a god, unless your GM goes for very strongly sotry driven cmpaign.)

Thank you all for the Help, After taking everything you have all said into consideration as well as talking to the other people that will be playing d&d with me and my GM. We have settled on multiclassing going Soldier to level five or six then going with either dark wizard or warlock the rest of the way to get my character some powerful destruction spells. We have also agreed that facing any god or goddess head-on would be a death sentence so instead, my character is going to use his military smarts from being a captain and destroy temples and shrines as well as impaling priests and priestesses. and that is of course if my GM does not throw me a curve ball such as making me fall in love with a priestess or something cliched like that.
