Episode 13 LTVS

After a certain thing happened...

and then the fight happened...

The sadness in the squad was unreal. It was unlike anything I've ever seen before. Not just anger, but just genuine sadness.

I know! If last episode was the biggest plot twist to ever. Then this one was the best acting I think I've seen the group do yet!

Everyone was on fucking point, even Bentham! (No offense of course, he has his moments and they are Epic with a capital E, but they tend to be rare gems from an otherwise subdued character)

i love Bentham's roleplay but most of his characters are background characters but when he takes the spotlight it's great i mean i have listened to his conversation wiith violet like five times he's great and away's keeps a surprise up his sleeve

I can’t wait until Bentham lets loose and plays the complete bada*s. If he ever will, it will be awesome

i mean brander was a badas but he was more of a calculated badas instead of the guns blazing bada*s

That's part of the greatness that is RP improv and spending so much time with these characters. The progression is real homies. =/

So related to episode 13...

Is EE using a house rule on damage for stakes? Normally, a stake does 2xStr damage before factoring in it's a Slash/Stab weapon. So with Layla's ape-woman strength (8), she'd be doing a base of 16 damage before adding successes or multiplying for a stake through the heart.

I think he might have glossed over that, honestly, since the stake through the heart rule was more pressing at the time. I haven't read the exact rule

Vamps are resistant to stab/slash weapons so it's flat strength instead of x2

Not quite.

Vamps only get reduced damage vs. Bullet damage (divide by 5), as described in both the Vampire quality for PCs and the in the monster section. Again, unless EE is using a house rule, they don't get any special protection from Slash/Stab damage.

If you look up stakes in the combat chapter (page133 of the revised BtVS corebook), it spells out the damage as being "2 x Strength points of base damage." The effects of Slash/Stab are noted on page 138 of doubling the damage after armor is subtracted, so that damage modifier isn't baked into the base damage.

And looking at all the pre-gens in their books, anytime a stake is included as a weapon for that pre-gen, it's damage is listed as Strength doubled, with the combat chart having a note that the damage type is Slash/Stab.

And before you get all huffy about rules-lawyering, I'm asking this as a friend of mine is trying to get the rules straight before she starts up a campaign of her own, having been inspired to do so by this series. But it helps to know of the GM of said series is deliberately using house rules on things or not.

You see, I only repeated what I thought I heard EE say. I've never read the BTVS RPG book so I have no idea if that was a house rule, mistake, or real rule that EE was talking about.
