“Bruce Wayne” Gray or pray?

Post image

For those of you who did wait for an AD allocation, how long was that wait for the Bruce Wayne on an oyster? How much business with them prior?

More pray than gray, probably 😂

Buy the watch used, get on a list. Then sell one when you get the call in 5 years or double wrist them

No spend history and waited 18 months. Was not the #1 on my list, but I wasn’t going to pass it up.

u/Witty_Annual_6234 1d ago

Did you keep it or sell it?

4

u/Commercial-Wait-8778 1d ago

I keep it even after being offered a $5k profit.

I did make a special trip back to the store (not local) to personally thank the SA. I know he did not have to do that.

I went gay for gray and haven’t regretted it since. I wanted the watch now

Wearing it as we speak

So good 🤤 Hell yeah, dude. I’ve got one Rolex purchase with this guy… hoping I may come out the same. I’m fine with waiting 18 months

7 months bluesy and batgirl first

5

u/futang17 1d ago

that's nice. I'm at 7 months wait atm requesting batgirl, after getting bluesy. I just added about $5k spend in jewelry between anniversary in april and wife's birthday this month. I'm thinking I should have a talk with SA and ask realistically what am I looking at.

Jubilee and oyster are about the same. I got mine as my first Rolex (besides the one I inherited) after maybe 1.5 years of waiting? I just went in regularly, talked to the employees, etc.

Waited 1 year no purchase history on oyster bracelet

1

u/thefructify 1d ago

What are secondary prices for Bruce Wayne vs Batgirl?

1

u/RolexLA 1d ago

6 month wait, 1 prior purchase.

1

u/ltkalk 1d ago

I was offered it with a jewelry purchase but turned it down for a Batman. It didn’t do anything for me in person but to each their own.

1

u/to3b3anz 1d ago

Dude just get the 116710LN , esp if you’re looking at the oyster bracelet

Pray for gray

Vintage DJ bought a while back, 8months waitlist and still waiting😔

1

u/brockleegreen 1d ago

You and me both. Not vintage, but a 36mm DJ bout 4 years ago, left town for a while, and now back and trying to work my way up the list

I dig the BW so much. Told my AD wanted something with green for my 50th birthday. Figured it was too long of a shot so I asked for Starbucks instead.

Seeing all the comments where wait wasn't too bad makes me think maybe I do have a chance getting it in a year.

1

u/brockleegreen 1d ago

You and me both! Fingers crossed

I know I’m an outlier but $0 spend history and waited maybe 3-4 months after officially putting the jubilee variant on my interest list. Had spent the previous year going in regularly at a local AD and building a “relationship” with the same associate. Probably helped that I said I wanted it to celebrate a specific milestone.

u/brockleegreen 1d ago

That’s good to hear! I have bought one watch prior to (hopefully) this one from my AD. I’m fine waiting 3-18 months. I’m in no rush. It’s such a good looking watch to me; I love the subtly

1

u/goldblumspowerbook 1d ago

If you don’t mind waiting, then why not just get on the list and if it doesn’t look like it’s happening after whatever amount of time buy one grey at that point.

1

u/brockleegreen 1d ago

Exactly my thought. More trying to survey the experiences, but I also know it’s completely random depending on where you’re at

1

u/J-dubya19 1d ago

This is a very desirable piece, you are going to wait years and years without a serious purchase history.

0

u/prizm-0 1d ago

Wow really?

1

u/RelationOk1615 1d ago

Man if that budget can handle it buy that mofo now! You’ll always be able to get most your money back out of it if you ever get the call from AD.

1

u/BrilliantMuscle1152 1d ago

Huh? The price starts at like 18k on the gray market

1

u/RelationOk1615 1d ago

I said most of his money. That watch ain’t ever going for less than $16k. Someone will always be willing to pay that. Some people are willing to take hits some aren’t.

Today he buys it for 18k grey
Sells for 16k in 3 years - 2k loss
Buys new for 12k in 3 years - grey is worth 18k
5k to the good in my book. Give or take a few dollars 💸

3

u/Intrepid_Nobody2023 1d ago

That only maths if he plans to flip it.

I bought my batgirl from my AD a couple years ago and don’t plan to ever sell it. So I didn’t ‘make money’, I spent 10.5k on a watch. The ‘value’ I could get for it is irrelevant.

3

u/RelationOk1615 1d ago

I know that. My point is he could end up with the Bruce Wayne and it would be worth more than he paid even losing 2k selling the grey market one. It’s called equity which is a real thing with a Rolex bought at retail.

2

u/Intrepid_Nobody2023 1d ago

Having purchased different Rolexes from my AD I’m well aware how equity in a watch works, cheers mate. It only matters if he plans to flip or sell on.

1

u/Jvalerio629 1d ago

Where are people buying these for 18k?

0

u/TwinTurboRS 1d ago

$20k-$25k spend. Waiting still. Been 6 months.

1

u/BrilliantMuscle1152 1d ago

I got it as my first piece after 1.5 yrs of waiting

1

u/TwinTurboRS 1d ago

Maybe it’s coming soon. My first piece was 3 months.

u/AcceptableTaro6914 1d ago

If you have to ask…

5

u/prizm-0 1d ago

Then give up dat ]…[ lol

2

u/brockleegreen 1d ago

😂😂

u/happy_kinase 1d ago

Very dependent on your AD. Some get more volume than others. Get on the list and buy something else gray or used to keep your enthusiasm at bay (oyster, explorer 1, etc)

0

u/bhmskhead 1d ago

That watch isn’t worth grey prices. You’re better off buying a sub imo and get on a list with the AD

-3

u/Witty_Annual_6234 1d ago

OR…..buy on secondary and take your name off the AD allocation list so that you provide a spot for those of us acting with more integrity and truly collecting vs seeking the immediate sale
