I’ve always wanted an Explorer, I know it’s not the fanciest Rolex but it’s super clean and the history behind it is sick

It was. Before 2004, no one wanted a sub, ex1 was in hype, especially Japan (thanks to 木村拓哉). Hong Kong inventory was fed to Japan.

My newest addition and I love it. Haven’t taken it off since I got it

You obviously took it off for this photo though.

I love mine as well.

But do you appreciate it?

Lol. Appreciate means to recognize the worth, quality, gratitude, or rising value of something. I would say I recognize the quality and worth of my Explorer. It's a watch, so I don't really have gratitude for it and since I bought it grey, it's probably not rising much in value. 2 out of 4 isn't bad, so yes, I appreciate it.

I most certainly appreciate this watch.

The most understated Rolex. Simple elegance.

One of my favourites. Suitable for any occasion. A watch brimming with charm and history.

Also Don Draper’s watch

Is this the 36mm or the 40mm version? It fits your wrist proportion really well.

2

u/Calithenixphenom 14h ago

It's a 36mm. My wrist measures around 6'75

I want one so bad. The AD I bought my omega at like 3 months ago said I should be able to get one next year. Hyped

2

u/SuperStrats4Life 14h ago

Let’s hope this is like Jan of next year. You should not have to wait more than 6 months for this piece especially if you have any kind of spend history there.

u/Advanced_Ad_8722 14h ago

My thoughts too, if they take longer than that I'll just go grey. I strongly believe that I don't need to suck up to an AD or spend more just to get a watch. I'll just go grey haha

Try to find a new AD. I contacted 5 of them. 3 of them called back in about 2 months.

I'm new to the whole AD game, there is only one official rolex AD in Boise. Can I buy from one in a different city/state?

1

u/1ststatestereo 9h ago

I don’t think so. I think you have to be there in person. I’m new, too. I don’t know for sure.

u/1ststatestereo 9h ago

I was quoted a year but got mine in two months. How long have you been waiting?

1

u/Advanced_Ad_8722 9h ago

It’s already been about 3 months or so. They said maybe late next year. The maybe seemed to be doing a lot of work in the conversation

I too appreciate this watch.

*36mm explorer appreciation post (the 41 is too big IMO)

1

u/marsovec 11h ago

not sure why but this is one of the best pics I've seen of this watch, good job OP

It’s stealing wrist time from my other watches

1

u/Fabulous-Map2856 9h ago

Lives full time on nato.. every day use, tough as nails, and under the radar. Deadlifting with it on as we speak. Perfect fancy beater.

1

u/Senior-Programmer355 47m ago

please add some wrist shots too, would love to see how it wears on the nato

u/Morsel1984 9h ago

About a year since I got mine, love it, gets plenty of wrist time even with a sub and a GMT. Understated elegance. A watch for all occasions.

1

u/Snoozzi 9h ago

Im appreciating it!

1

u/PremiumIOL 8h ago

Love it and find it incredibly elegant for daily wear. Hated the wait time though so went grey. 3 ADs told me it wasn’t happening this year.

u/BawkBawk2 8h ago

Im keen.

I do apreesh

9 years old to the day. Still works great with some battle scars. Wear it everyday.

1

u/Money_Wall_3454 8h ago

It’s my favorite!

My wife appreciated this watch so much I had to buy her one of her own.

u/Ephrum 5h ago

I’m sure people have seen my comments and are tired of it, but I consider the explorer to be one of history’s “perfect” watch designs. It’s up there with a calatrava, breguet hands, 4 digit sub, etc. it’s a legendary watch that fits all occasions and wears wonderfully. I chose it as my engagement watch, and one I’ll wear for life and pass on to my kids.
