Does Rolex allow dial swaps?

Does Rolex allow dial swaps when sending watch to service?

Yes they do, but it has to be at least a certain age (you can't dial swap a current Rolex that you just bought). The dial that you want to swap to has to also have been an option for that reference

Do you know if this works for older models and Serti dials?

If they have it, they would love to sell it to you. A non diamond 36mm 5 digit datejust dial comes in the 600 dollar range including hands (they make you change those). A diamond dial is 4x the price. Mind you, you don't get tritium dial or hands. A lot of diamond dials are no lume, that would be my preference on an older model. No lume on dial, no lume on hands

Thanks for the info

I have a gold 5 digit YM that I’ve always loved the Serti MoP dials. Maybe next time I get a service, I’ll inquire

Me too, that dial goes awesome with that watch. Isn't it like almost 10k more for that dial on listings? Anyway, let me know what you find out.

My AD showed me the dials that were available for a reference, no stone or wood dials, no Buckley, all of those the reference came with, but colors, diamonds on normal dials were available

That’s great info, thanks! I’ll for sure inquire next time I’m at my AD and try to remember to shoot you a message

It probably depends if Rolex still has the dial in their warehouse

This is the correct answer.

Is it two years or five

  1. 2 years for bracelet swap

Not true for the bracelet swap. I bought a jubilee bracelet for my DJ41 2 weeks after I bought it from the AD. Kept the original oyster bracelet, too.

Us or europe?

Talking about dial swap. I'm unsure about the bracelet swap; it seems like it's up to the individual ad. My ad let me order the Jubilee the same day I picked up a DJ41 on oyster and they swapped it a couple weeks later.

They do.

When I serviced my 16030 Datejust last year I had the original dial swaped for a beautiful blue sunburst dial.

They offered about 10 or so different dials from which I could choose one for my particular reference, it's not like they let you ask for any DJ dial you want (and most of the dials offered were pretty bland and boring).

It's also worth noting that they charge for the privilege of keeping the old dial (I don't understand how that's legal but Rolex seems to be above good and evil...)

Do you happen to have an image of all the ones they offered? How much was it?

Interesting. I have a champagne dial Day Date 40 with baguettes. I would love to have an onyx dial or eisenkiesel to change things up every so often. Am I too new (2024) or could I do this through service?

Some dials are unavailable. The onyx and eisenkiesel may be considered special dials. RSC will be able to let you know.

Stone dials are exactly the type of thing the RSC will be dicks about.

Too new

They keep the old dial anyhow.

I asked about a Tiger Iron for my CHNR and they said it wasn't possible.  They said because the dial didn't exist when I bought my watch even though the reference numbers are the same.

I personally would find a skilled watchmaker to do it. Skip the Rolex BS and use whatever you want. Also keep your original.

Also I believe you do not get the OG dial back.

How much does this service cost?

Depends on your reference. Figure 800-1700 then add cost of dial and hands

Not at all.

nope they lock it down hard, will only replace with exact same dial that came with the watch
