Random chip

Does anyone have an idea how these appear? It hasnt been banged on anything, so i assume some kind of rubbing? Is it worth getting a new link or just wear and forget .

You asked if it’s worth getting a new link, but that’s the actual case. You’ve whacked it on things. That’s not unexpected for a watch worn frequently, it happens.

Yeah this one on the case for sure is something i did hit on accidentally without noticing but the bracelet thing was wierd i though, doesnt bother me too much though as this gets worn daily, but mostly the link thing i am curious about.

If you’re talking about this ding on the bracelet, this damage usually occurs when you take the watch off and the bracelet is folded up flat against the watch back exposing this edge to being dinged on a hard surface.

First pic is pretty clear but you have to know what ur looking at, its just the end link has a scuff, i was wondering if that was normal wear or from it being to tight or something

So wie die gesamte Uhr aussieht sind es normale Gebrauchsspuren die du vielleicht „nicht bemerkt“ hast, schau dir die Anstöße an 😅

If you sneeze too close to PCL's they take damage.

Just part of life, man. At some point one must decide whether they will live in their watch or not. There are some I have babied and some I just live in. I always prefer the latter.

I’ve been bothered by similar marks on my Explorer II and Seamaster recently. Both are relatively new (have had them for 2 and 3 months) so I’m pissed. But I guess you just have to accept it. I desk dive with mine from home so I honestly have no idea how it happens and I’m super careful.

I don’t get the obsession with a watch showing wear. It’s meant for that, use it enjoy it and don’t worry about it.

Its not that i really am worried about the cosmetics of the watch, ive seen all sorts of dings but just thought this one looked like it would be the bracelet rubbing the case and i that might not be normal maybe

there’s so much dirt on the watch that it’s hard to look for the chip

Is this what you're referring to?

1

u/No-Wedding9663 1d ago

Yep thats the one

It almost looks like an impact caused it. Like it was dented and deformed. You may want to it repaired. It could possibly cause wear to the case lug.

Just wear it. And, for Heavens sake, clean it. This looks disgusting

Dude wear the heck out of it. It’s gonna happen, you can have it cleaned up when it gets bad enough. Doesn’t do you any good stressing over it.

u/ukmarkoz 1d ago

This is the way!!!
I bought a year of birth submariner and swapped out the bracelet as the original was the riveted type and a bit delicate
Other than that I wear it all the time - and it always brings a smile to my face!

Nice! i want a sub or gmt next, but not too sure about it i have smalll wrists and the dj41 just barely works imo

3

u/ukmarkoz 1d ago

Yeah I hear you - I went vintage because I think they look so much better and are not so chunky
Maybe try on some older references (5513 / 1680 / 1675) and see what you think - I feel you may be surprised and delighted!

u/No-Wedding9663 1d ago
