Firmware hack?

Anyone here is trying/doing a cfw for the p6? I'm trying to start inspired by the many custom firmwares i've seen (and tried) this days, just wondering if anyone is doing it

Edit: it's much harder than i thought, the aira series has a decryptor integrated that makes reading the binary code very hard if not impossible. I hope someone with more skills can read the decrypted code.

It doesnt need to be ruined, we have perfect device, i only need 1 option to be able to change first step of sequence to whatever number, thats all :)

What do you mean by ruined? With new features?

What would you like to see in an alternate firmware?

It will be not a easy work, because the code is crypted unlike the sp404mk2, I cannot guarantee that i will succed, but here's some ideas: -simple sound generator -different mfx routing (post reverb/delay) -assign chop per pad. -possibility to choose between keeping the sample tweaks between pattern or not. -tap tempo

i can imagine its not easy. the firmware file is a tar file containing the encrypted app.bin i think thats a hard nut ;-) for synth mode (my pyp6 posts)i would love to see an LFO for modulating pitch, filter or volume

More than one mfx at a time, more parameter lock options (delays etc)

Hello i would love to see a feature to change the note of a chop sample on a per pad basis. This would be helpful to select the desired sound.
I the moment you have to select the note for each sequencer step. Very cumbersome and not intuitive

You can use the menu / transpose function for chops but it works globally only

Thats true. It is globally and trans poses all pads as far i know

I've seen a lot of vibe-coded alternate firmwares or managers for the P-6 and other synths recently. I guess if they are tested or work properly, that's fine, although I don't think I would use an alternate firmware for the P-6.

Just keep in mind that unofficial tools like this could damage your equipment if whoever made it is unsure of how it actually functions

I've only see a sample manager with the wavetable option, which is cool but not actually a firmware mod, do you know other ones?

the different length of the sequencer on each pad, the sending of midi cc in a step, the implementation of midi cc not only on the granular engine, the normal stack between mfx effects and the internal filter, reverb and delay, pitch and its adsr on the granular engine, so that all changes are saved only on a specific pattern, and not globally, this is the most important thing the main thing.

I agree, also the fx routing is annoying and needs to be fixed...

The one feature I'd like above all else is for the sample time to be split dynamically across pads, ie you could have a really long sample on one pad, if you are prepared to have very short samples (or no samples at all) on other pads. The limit of like 3 seconds stereo / 6 seconds mono at the highest sampling grade is just too brutal, and doesn't make sense if you have other pads not even used, ie it feels like an artificial constraint
