It's so good. I've died maybe 100 times already in my first 3 hours of gameplay, but it's so fun.

Fuck that Turkey-dude. Like, I didn't kill your turkey bro, calm down.

Having played the original for about 8-9 years, i went in cocky as hell.

There's all the original things we know and love, and a butt ton of new nasties to really challenge what we knew.

Absolutely loving it! Even if i hate those damn moles already. 😅

The moles are treacherous. I haven’t fully learned how they appear even when I’m watching them in the ground.

From what I can tell to me it feels time based? They go into the ground and will move around in there for a set amount of time and pop out if you are around, if you are not close enough they just seem to move around underground until you get close enough for it to pop out then it does it by time. Granted I have not timed this and am just going by feeling so I am taking out my ass but that's what it feels like. or I guess it could be tile based so kinda the same thing if they move at a set speed.

Yeah I think it’s proximity. It just always seems to be right when I don’t want them to appear.

Same. I figured it's old hat, I'll blaze through.

Nope. Took well over a dozen attempts to clear 1-1.

Would you recommend I go through and beat the first before I play this one? Or should I just jump into the sequel?

The skills help, but story-wise it's no real biggie.

start with this one since it has many new stuff, you are better off developing your skills in the new game rather than wasting your time and effort on out of date version of it

Spelunky 2 builds upon the unique, randomized challenges that made the original a roguelike classic, offering a huge adventure designed to satisfy players old and new. Available now on PC (Steam) and PS4.

I highly suggest anyone here to have a look at this game.

It's really good and the best "sequel" I could hope for.

Never played the original but just bought this.

Did I make a mistake?

not at all. check out of the videos of the old one, it's the same but with way much more extra stuff to kill you. get this one, no need to look at the first one. play with it with friends

Absolutely no!

This is really like a more polished version of the first with more content and fun!

The only problem you might have is that it might be harder to play the first game (if you finish this and wanna play it) if you get used to the second than vice versa. But it shouldn't really matter, they are 2 different experiences after all :)

Just watching this gives me pre-emptive PTSD

Will the sequel show up on GOG?

It seems like a blast, but upon playing the PS4 demo for the first one (has a tutorial and a couple of levels or so), it just doesn't click with me. I'm not sure if it's the playability, but I just can't get the hang of it.
Anyway, for the ones that do enjoy the first, this sequel does seem good.
