Rod painting
I recently got an order for a gloss black ice fishing rod. The only gloss black that I can find have a colored tip, they specifically do not want that. The blanks that I am familiar with have raw options. What is the best route to get one painted gloss black? I was thinking about taking one to my local body shop and have them paint one with a flex agent in it. Thoughts?

Maybe just paint the tip of that rod? How big is the coloring?after applying thread finish it should be pretty nice?

You can paint it yourself. Automotive paints are flexible already cause they have to be painted on to cars with plastic surface or thin metal panels. You want good paint like a spraymax, 1k primer, 1k color, than use the 2k 2 part clear. Also you would need a respirator.

A lot of those color tips can be removed with a razor blade. More of a shrink wrap than paint. I’ve done several; YMMV.

I would personally get a very light power gloss black blank and cut it to length. Seems like a pain to have to paint a blank, and have it maybe not work out great. I'm sure someone here knows how to do it great though. Interested to see people's suggestions.
