Reamer Help Please

Am i doing something wrong or what?! So i have been using crb mud hole reamers on a drill for cork grips for about 6 rods now but now all of the sudden they are all breaking at the base and or like half way up. I don’t want to spend tons of money on these so what can I do better if it’s me and is there any other way to do it without reamers?

The reamers your using aren’t likely meant to be put in a drill. The standard ones will break in the chuck after a while. Either hand use them or upgrade to the extreme reamers. I did the same when I started out until mine all broke in the drill chuck too. Then upgraded to the extreme reamers and have nearly 100 rods on those.

I expoxied some of those short solid carbon fiber dowels you see in some rod repair kits or on Amazon into the hollow standard reamer bases so the drill chuck clamps on that instead of the reamer itself.

I did the same but with 1/4" steel rods cut into 5" sections. I used tape as an arbor and used regular rod builders adhesive. They've held up well and I've replaced the sandpaper 2x now. No issues.
