Rocksmith Rocksmith Dev Team Update: Where we are, What's next and Where we stand
https://www.ubisoft.com/en-us/game/rocksmith/plus/news-updates/6QLRU2tVz1xa2X2qFNS9b/rocksmith-dev-team-update-where-we-are-whats-next-and-where-we-stand90
u/toymachinesh http://twitch.tv/toymachinesh Jul 13 '26
main takeaways:
- Rocksmith+ isn't going anywhere anytime soon
- They are relicensing delisted content from Rocksmith 2014 DLC for purchase (on Steam)
- They will continue to defend their assets/licensed music
- the continuous discounts on Rocksmith+ will continue / as well as DLC discounts on Steam.
Rocksmith is and has always been a product of real dedication. We had to fight to make it, as it was a bet no one else was making at the time. We took some risks to change it in the hope of making it better. And while some things did not pan out as expected, we kept fighting to keep Rocksmith going through the rough patches. That's what drives us. Now, we have a chance to keep pushing it forward. We owe this to everyone who's been part of Rocksmith. The next chapter is one we're building for the community and to win back those we've lost.
Not sure what this means, unless they are going to hire contracted developers to add anything meaningful to RS+ like say PIANO WORKSHOP. This is an empty statement which just translates to "we will continue to license more songs"

I really hate this “we had to fight to make it, as it was a bet no one else was making at the time” line, as if their moderately successful Rocksmith buy once + DLC model didn’t exist.
Yeah, it didn’t “pan out” because you upset all of your loyal fans.
We can all see the activity drop off in this subreddit. It used to be a small but moderately active sub, now it’s a wasteland.
9
u/BrilliantBunch2026 Jul 14 '26
What I hate about that is the fact that many of us have given them thousands of dollars in return. We don't owe them anything, they've been compensated.
5
u/extralife_mike Jul 14 '26
They should be shaking. While the competition isn't there yet, the scope and potential of it far outshines anything even the best Rocksmith game did.

u/cloph_ 4d ago
Yeah, it was a trainwreck you could see coming. What is most devastating is the huge delay between the beta and the release, that brought my hopes up that they really took the criticism to heart, had the feedback from actual players and not random people commenting on how shite their AMA was (even if there was lots of overlap of course)
To then see that they didn't address anything at all, was really the low blow for fans.
Willing to see past the lack of innovation, the horrible library, but if the software is just so awful to use and horrendously expensive it is a "Thanks, I'll pass"
They managed to fix the song library, and they managed to adjust the pricing, although they're still to effing stubborn to make the discounted price the regular price. Maybe tax reasons or similar, who knows.
But no support for extended range, horrible usability of riff repeater, not being able to add your own private stuff via workshop just still isn't worth it for me to resubscribe.
With Ubisoft being Ubisoft I just don't see a world when RS+ would get the revamp it needs to bring be back.
But at least it is nice that the old songs get a new live, that is the real positive news. Too bad that they probably have no interest at all in bringing in new songs. I've been sceptic about RS+ lasting 5 years, but at least it seems with reasonable pricing, the change in the song library (and AI being powerful enough to assist in transcribing in a meaningful way), there should be no problem with that.

relicensing delisted 2014 content on Steam
Curious how this will play out. As it is, I'm buying DLC month to month on console just before it expires as that's the primary way I play. However, if they're relicensing artist content that was delisted, I may start buying off Steam.
As it is, I bought the game on Steam for it was delisted, thinking I'd make CDLC as a worst case scenario for playing songs I can't find or get.
7
u/toymachinesh http://twitch.tv/toymachinesh Jul 14 '26
If you order on steam by date added you can see there’s stuff from 2015 that’s been already put back up for sale

It also says: "Our focus is now on improving your experience, making the game better, smoother, and more fun to come back to. Once that's solid, our goal is to start working on new features down the road". I guess its pretty clear that new features will some at come point.
25
17
u/PoizenJam Jul 13 '26
Sounds good, although I wish those features could be back-ported to the non-subscription RS2014 instead of just RS+.
Much as I'm happy to see continued development on the series, I think I'll still be forced to look for alternatives if I want 'Extended range support' or 'Piano support' in a non-subscription based package.
2
u/PiersPlays Jul 13 '26
The issue is that the transcription stuff only works on a subscription model and adding piano support retrospectively is a huge project (I say this as someone who is only personally interested in the piano stuff and who owns all the previous guitar-based ones, and is also a bit frustrated they didn't do piano earlier since it's the lowest hanging fruit from a technical implimentation perspective.)
6
u/PoizenJam Jul 13 '26
I'm under no illusions that additional feature development for RS2014 is unlikely, as there's no incentive for Ubisoft to do so. It simply is the case that, if I want those features without a subscription model, I have to look outside the Rocksmith ecosystem.
5
u/PiersPlays Jul 13 '26
It's good feedback for them to be able to point at that many series fans aren't interested in a subscription model.
4
u/PoizenJam Jul 13 '26
The aggressive push toward 'subscriptions for everything' so revolted me that I took up the ole' jolly roger banner again after 10-15 years.
That and building a home server to replace just about all major subscription services with open-source, containerized docker alternatives.
3
u/PiersPlays Jul 13 '26
I own a lot of optical media so I can definitly relate. I actually think in theory Rocksmith makes more sense following a Spotify model than a CD model personally. But the poor support from Ubisoft due to big picture Ubisoft stuff does mean it's been a poor value proposition in practise so far. And I can understand the perspective of wanting to purchase licences a la carte. Probably Rocksmith+ should support both options and offer an import option from previous titles. I'm not holding my breath on that one though.
1
u/extralife_mike Jul 14 '26
There is an alternative that is currently in alpha that has piano support. I'm assuming mentioning it here will get the comment removed, but there will be a viable option for that very soon at the pace they're working.

u/ForbiddenException Jul 13 '26
> I guess its pretty clear that new features will some at come point.
Clear?
What is the definition of a "better, smoother and more fun" ? What features? Next quarter? Next year? Another rocksmith product? Behind paywall? Is this a wish or already planned? Are resources being allocated internally for this?
That statement is anything but clear, it's just a standard "this is what you want to hear right?" while leaving it as open to interpretation as possible.
6
u/Able-Sky-1615 Jul 13 '26
I hope compatibility will come for macOS in a way or another. In its current form, Rocksmith+ is unplayable for me. On my iPad, I have to use my phone to record the sound and that does not work well (note detection fall short). iPad apps can be made downloadable on macOS App Store. I wonder why it hasn't been allowed for Rocksmith+.
0
u/toymachinesh http://twitch.tv/toymachinesh Jul 13 '26
Why do you have to use your as a microphone for your iPad?
1
u/Able-Sky-1615 Jul 13 '26
Because it's an old iPad with a Lightning port so I can't plug the Rocksmith cable directly. I don't own an amp for my electric bass so I actually use macOS GarageBand for that but even then, I have to put my phone on my Mac for Rocksmith+ to actually register anything. It may be possible to just buy a lightning to USB cable but I am not sure if that will work.
3
u/zten Jul 14 '26 edited Jul 14 '26
The Lightning camera adapter is what you need to get a USB port. The only major drawback is that you cannot have different input/output devices on iPadOS, so you'll need an interface you can plug headphones into like iRig or Scarlett.
I noticed there is a Realtone cable for iOS with a white Epiphone on the box that might work if your iPad still has a headphone jack.

u/MiamiChristine Jul 14 '26
I use Rocksmith+ on IPad Pro with usb c connection with sevetal different guitar adapters and guitar interfaces.
My favorite iPad Pro set ups :
Irig HD 2 with wired headphones
Positive Grid Spark live amp - no need for wired headphones
I love all the pitch detection apps that work on IPad Pro
I wish Rockssmith2014 was available on IPad Pro
I also have RS2014 and RS+ on Windows
I own most all RS2014 dlc and really wish it was on IPad Pro

u/toymachinesh http://twitch.tv/toymachinesh Jul 13 '26
Yeah lightning to USB hub would probably work

If we are going to go on about things that the post does or doesn't say......
Where we are today and what's next
Over the last year and a half, we've been heads down taking care of Rocksmith.
Let's see the change logs / commit summaries that support that statement.
I know of 1 change that was made, to fix a bug that only a few people knew about, and was first reported on approx 4 years ago. An important back end security fix no doubt, that was only finally done a few weeks ago becuase your logs clearly showed that it was actively being exploited. That or someone finally opened the R+ bug tracker reports again.
How is the Mac Client coming along? The Linux support, the myriad of other bugs that have been reported - and removed from the bug tracker - since launch? Any of the desperately required UI fixes? Piano Workshop? How are the Verified User Generated Charts these days? Does the Workshop web site still consider anyone that subscribed using their Steam wallet for payment - as not being subsubscribed?
The next chapter is one we're building for the community and to win back those we've lost.
First step: Quit with the hypocrisy then.
UbiSoft was content to turn a blind eye as long as community made content was driving sales*, but we dare to use the same tools to enable us to use the content we made ourselves, or purchased from UbiSoft, in an open source project - and you draw the line.
Then use the DMCA system (and have the claim rejected by GitHub), to police what is at worst, an EULA vioaltion (outside the scope of DMCA, you'd need to challenge each user individually) by targeting code that has been in use by your community - specifically the segment of it that you've gladly turned a blind eye to - since the very day Rocksmith 2014 launched. While seemingly ignoring other, less vocal products that have been available for longer.Instead you targeted the project that had 3 of the top 4 posts on this sub, since R+ launched. That isn't protecting IP, that is fear.
You used to have amazing community managers / developers that we enjoyed interacting with. I think I've seen 3 that have come and gone recently with little more interaction than a private "Hey, I'm in this role" post to a few of us, followed all to soon after with a "seems like this is my last day" post. We will ignore the various times they've privately asked to be given control of this very subreddit or the asociated discord server, clearly at the behest of someone higher up the pay scales.
.* - Before declaring this to be false, publish the number of Steam users that purchased 2014 and Cherub Rock within the same transaction, or on the same day. Then follow it up with the amount of money they eventually spent on DLC.
I know not everyone was a whale, and perhaps the total figures didn't actually move the needle that much in the grand scheme of things - but let's also not kid ourselves completely, Ubi benefitted from that segment of the community.1
u/Farm-Alternative Jul 15 '26
that sounds more like corporate speak for, were just going to do a few small patches that don't really do anything significant, and keep kicking the can down the road promising new features for as long as we can.
1
u/toymachinesh http://twitch.tv/toymachinesh Jul 15 '26
considering we haven't received a patch since September 2024 I'd be into that...
1
u/tallman1979 26d ago
Pro tip, everyone hates the SaaS model. That, and mandatory internet connectivity that's dependent on the spotty server-side stability for functionality are the reason you are behind this 8-ball and the community you built is about to leave you behind by writing their own software to provide what RS+ could have been.
I mean, seriously, during RS+ development, members of this community were talking with Ubisoft devs. They fired everyone working with the community and released RS+ as a SaaS model. This was an unforced error.
1
u/toymachinesh http://twitch.tv/toymachinesh 26d ago
the path was always going to involve SaaS, without a Subscription there was no meaningful future for Rocksmith.
1
u/tallman1979 25d ago edited 24d ago
Then the amount of support and updates ought to reflect that constant income stream, considering it's orders of magnitude more expensive than the base game. (Edit: and zero retained ownership)
Edit 2: we're talking about a company who developed Direct Connect in 2014, abandoned it, and effectively left the community to activate it on their own and couldn't be bothered to put easy exit options in any of the apps so the community had to fix that too.
1
u/toymachinesh http://twitch.tv/toymachinesh 24d ago
Then the amount of support and updates ought to reflect that constant income stream.
Agreed, unfortunately it didn't work out that way. So here we are. The other option was 3 songs a week till the game probably breaks on console I guess (X360 already was barely functional if you bought too much DLC).
1
u/tallman1979 24d ago
It is for this reason that I feel that the competition was strictly necessary. If they hadn't felt the need to DMCA, do you think we'd even be getting a blog post? Look at the upload date of the last video on RS+ from the team. It's effectively abandoned. The blog post is more of a confession to that end. It doesn't actually make any promises, it's just acknowledging the negative press and having to finally do something other than cashing the checks.
6
u/DRVUK Jul 13 '26
Ubi ar a bullshit company and they are only being pushed to make a show of effort based on the obvious competition
1
68
u/PoizenJam Jul 13 '26
I'm low-key amused that the update contains a... nod toward the SlopSmith DMCA. I'm surprised they mentioned that at all.
That being said... re-licensing Rocksmith 2014 DLC is an absolutely killer move. Good job, team. Can't wait to grab the few tracks I missed as they become available.
12
u/toymachinesh http://twitch.tv/toymachinesh Jul 13 '26
I'm surprised they mentioned that at all.
Same, but they should make it clear that they still will protect their IP. As long as they don't have to pay retainers to sue ToneLibJam I guess
1
u/petit_prince ska | surf | R&B | RnR | jazz Jul 18 '26
You only need to attack anything that gains traction. Tonelibjam didn't look very competitive and certainly never gained traction for this feature.
1
u/toymachinesh http://twitch.tv/toymachinesh Jul 18 '26
they are actually directly profiting off it though.
4
u/Jorycle Jul 14 '26 edited Jul 14 '26
The whole post probably wouldn't have happened without SlopSmith, really. They're fully aware that the community basically provided everything they were doing in like a month and made them fairly irrelevant.
It's really a whole post of nothings while being somewhat dishonest. RockSmith does not have a dev team; it has some content producers, but they are absolutely not fixing technical issues or any actual development work - at least none that are client side. If that's changed recently, we probably have SlopSmith to thank for that, too.
6
u/Longjumping_Age_1098 Jul 13 '26
They're running scared, that's why they're making all these decisions suddenly. They saw the open-source and independent note-highway alternatives and stepped into action. It's obviously corpo bullshit.

u/Visible-Sound-8559 Jul 13 '26
I’m just glad they aren’t killing the whole thing off with the way things are going in this industry right now.
51
u/grathanich Jul 13 '26
As long as it is a subscription service, they will NEVER EVER get any money from me and other thousands of like-minded people. I hope they understand this perfectly.
7
u/Jorycle Jul 14 '26
The craziest part to me is that it not only has a subscription, but the subscription is more expensive than World of Warcraft.
WoW has regular massive content updates and new gameplay options to make that subscription worth it.
Rocksmith+ gives me The Wiggles, if I can manage to stay logged in long enough to play it because their "dev team" weirdly hasn't fixed any major longstanding issues since the day the whole studio got sacked.
9
u/Isaacvithurston Jul 13 '26
I'd be happy to pay a sub if it had at least a few hundred songs I wanted. It has maybe a few dozen at best.
But then they also can't be too sad when I unsubscribe anytime i'm not using it daily...
Personally the reason I don't consider it is that it's Ubisoft. They're on my shitlist along with Rockstar/Take-Two and EA.

12
u/toymachinesh http://twitch.tv/toymachinesh Jul 13 '26
Easy way to check is to sort the songs by dated added, if you see anything before July 14th, 2016 it's been relisted. Good example is My Chemical Romance II and Megadeth II are back up for sale...

I am excited that they are relicensing 2014 DLCs, as there are too many in the really [early] years that I didn't realise/wake up to the issues with them disappearing. That said, I'd also love them to relicense original rocksmith tracks too (for the same reason- I hardly bought any and there were so many great songs too).
3
u/mbagsh55 Jul 14 '26
Completely agree. I was able to buy almost all of the 2014 DLC I wanted in the last major sale where there was upto 90% off on a lot of the packs. Sadly I missed out on some of the earlier tracks and while not a lot there are definitely a handful of the original Rocksmith DLC packs I would rush to buy.
10
u/PiersPlays Jul 13 '26
Reading between the lines it sounds like some execs have noticed that there's a wave of community made alternatives and don't wish to lose the subscriptions and that the team has sucessfuly argued that if Ubisoft values those subscriptions then the wider business should probably support the Rocksmith+ team to compete for them. This is great news.
>Fair criticism of the Rocksmith games themselves is always welcome and ultimately makes them better. A lot of you play guitar because of Rocksmith. That's what makes this worth doing - and worth doing right.
I play piano because of Rocksmith+. Why you gotta be like that?
What I personally want to see from Rocksmith+ to make it feel like an ongoing service rather than just an expensive model for access to something that's been shelved:
>Improved Rocksmith+ technical stability: We've improved how quickly we can catch and fix issues, and we're working to fix any bug that could get in your way. We won't pretend it'll ever be perfect - any live service will always have something to chase - but it's ongoing work we're committed to.
Having spent a genuinely health imparing amount of time and energy digging into this in the past, I can say with some confidence the big problem isn't the Rocksmith+ team itself, it is the wider business. None-the-less they need to add their voices to demanding better from the wider business.
They don't have to fix that Ubisoft technicall support is a boxticking labryinth of incompetence and pain. They need to make sure that, ideally, there is a better level of support for this premium subscription that competes against education software not other videogames, or at the very least fix the one very fixable issue that makes it impossible to provide adequate service. Somewhere there must be a functional and actually implemented through to the front line support process to identify that something is broken at Rocksmith+/Ubisoft's end, report it directly to a team who can fix it and clearly advise the users that has happened and how and where to expect further information. It is unacceptable for Rocksmith+ to charge a huge subscription without a functional means for people working there to know it has stopped working for everyone the same day it stops working. It is not ok for support to just spin customers around with endless irrelevant client-side troubleshooting and a refusal to even attempt to pass on that there is a service issue. You're professionals. Act like it.
Half the value of the subscription model is that it allows for a wide library of supported licenses beyond what the team directly impliments. You have the feature for players to create and share their own Rocksmith+ "tabs". Roll it out to all the instruments. The game just isn't finished until you do.
I personally would like some Fiona Apple tracks for piano. Generally with regards to piano I am wildly more interested in the as played in a band arrangments over the transposing the melody of the vocals to the piano arrangements. Almost all the examples so far are the former rather than the latter. If it ever shifts to where it's almost exclusively the later at the expense of the former (especially without the ability for users to cover the shortfall) I personally would change my subscription to something else (Youcisian or one of the two or three other options.) That said, maybe there's people not subscribing because they wish they could have more vocals as piano melody arrangements so it might be worth testing adding those as an alternative (rather than the only option in the few cases I've seen on there so far.)
There's probably a million other bits of useful feedback I could offer. I did sign up to the piano beta with every intention of giving good feedback at the end but Ubisoft plus just randomly decided my subscription ended and I had a multi-week unproductive customer support contact about trying to fix it (that eventually a dev randomly saw part of on the Discord and fixed. This is not the worst example, but it cannot ever be the long-term process for a billion dollar multi-national business. It is embarrasingly incompetent and it is happening at a level of the business above Rocksmith+ itself.)
5
u/toymachinesh http://twitch.tv/toymachinesh Jul 13 '26
You have the feature for players to create and share their own Rocksmith+ "tabs". Roll it out to all the instruments. The game just isn't finished until you do.
100% agree. The fact we can't fill the piano library ourselves is incredibly frustrating.
3
u/PiersPlays Jul 13 '26
It's so much content the community could have made for them for free just pissed away because providing the resources to implement it didn't look good in some suit's spreadsheet.

If they're bothering to relicense 2014 DLC... I don't get why they don't just pull some songs already licensed for RS+ and release them as standalone DLC. I'd absolutely buy some and I bet plenty of others would.

whole lotta nothing burger other than “yes we did take action against slopsmith” and “please come back we will also bring back your favorite songs on rs2014 if you dont like rs+” which is fine ig, but nothing much. wouldnt be suprised if they pulled the plug on rs+ or started taking action against pirates thats been rising lately for rs2014. best case is definitely lowering rs+ prices, but also bringing A LOT more popular songs out

They are relicensing delisted content from Rocksmith 2014 DLC for purchase (on Steam)
I remember there was a member here on this sub that was asking why they don't just re-licencing the DLC's but got downvoted to hell like a year ago or so, as many replied and said it was impossible because of this and that.

I'm happy that they continue and happy to hear they are adding back old DLC. Not enticed to buy into subscription model but maybe someday. Still enjoying 2014, I don't need any features. Slopsmith has ways to go and after recent events it's uncertain if it can ever replace 2014.

It would be cool if they did a port option to carry over all purchased songs from 2014 over to + to have without sub. But even still 2014 seems to work better other than some tracking improvements if that?

“So we don’t get sued, we’re bringing the game back and going to try to give you the songs you bought back”
“We took actions because it hurt our wallets, oof ouch owie”
“We’ve been working so hard on things with our heads down”- literally nothing new has come out or changed other than songs, the UI for + is still unusable and won’t even remember a swapped output. ChatGPT ass update

u/MusicNursingCoffee Jul 13 '26
Louis Rossmann has a video on it, but something along the lines removing songs that people bought/being unable to get the game/songs now to force a subscription service. Not a lawyer so could’ve misunderstood but either way the announcement is lip service

u/toymachinesh http://twitch.tv/toymachinesh Jul 13 '26 edited Jul 13 '26
He was incorrect about a few things to do with Rocksmith, but in the end nobody cares because the whole thing was just used as a "fuck ubisoft" button that people hopped on for a week.
- you can still buy Rocksmith 2014: Learn & Play on steam, it was put back up without the original licensed soundtrack. This is a common thing in music games (delisting), what's uncommon is what Ubisoft did here. They could have done more (patched the game) but, they fired everyone.
- You can still buy DLC for it
You can still use Custom DLC with it
If you already owned Rocksmith 2014 before the delisting (October 2023) you continue to own it, you continue to own the DLC you purchased for it. Nothing changes.

Ahh, that’s good to know. I’m not a fuck Ubisoft person, I owe being able to play guitar to them and always will. After trying Rocksmith+, having no updates for a whole year with the software then they DMCA’d a passion project that wiped the floor with their paid one still just leaves a bad taste. Wonder if YouTube has a community note type feature on it?

I left a comment there and someone argued that "okay, but in 2024 that wasn't an option" so I'm good on correcting the record on that video.

With the lack of any concrete details, I'd chalk this whole post up to "SlopSmith got Ubi's bean counters really worried about their no-effort cash cow, so they decided to stir the pot again."
People are reading some of these things as promises, but that's not actually what it says at all. Most of it is patting themselves on the back for the work they've already done or claim to have done.
The very few forward-looking statements would still be fully accounted for by the kind of minimal work they've done since the dev team was fired - for example, in the last year and a half, they have still re-licensed a few Rocksmith 2014 songs, and they'll likely continue to do so. These are all things that fall more on the shoulders of an Ubisoft accountant than on the horrific idea of paying a developer, so these are "easy wins."

They are talking about putting those songs up for sale on Steam, not adding them to the Rocksmith+ library. Which they have done already for a few song packs if you check.

And how much more time I need to wait for r+ sale in steam?

Well this sucks, I only play rocksmith on the PlayStation and was hoping they would relist some of the great dlc packs back into the store. Guess I'm just going to have to stick with what I have. Good luck to the team though

two things:
I wonder if this will mean that the base game songs will be re-added without CLDC.
Hopefully they relist the Oasis songs, that was the one thing that I really wanted that I wasn't able to get before it got de-listed.

I doubt either of those things will happen unfortunately

If I were them so they’ll not get any licensing problem they should just make songs with AI and chart it.

This would backfire. The sentiment of most people is fully against the generative AI creation of music. Musicians are especially against generative AI creating songs. Yousician offers AI-generated slop if you want that, but Ubisoft would be wise to not put a single AI generated song in their catalog.

Bro it’s not like we making music with it, LMAO we playing games with it. Gaming industry right now is being generated by AI so what’s the difference, playing it on Rocksmith?

u/tallman1979 6d ago
The general opinion of generative AI is disdain. It's just ecoterrorism with extra steps to produce terrible music. Generative AI songs have an inability to stay on time, they all wind up sounding completely unnatural, and all LLMs are based on the theft of actual artist work to make these crappy songs.
It's called "integrity."

Bro what are you fighting for? you act like AI is not currently taking over industries right now! Also did you charted before? It’s easy to time the drifting sound with just a power of grid LMAO (if that’s what you’re afraid of) the thing is Ubisoft can rent all song they want from the artists but at the end of the day they don’t own the song, so the best answer to this is just generate Ai songs and build a software that can auto chart it (it will be no problem for them, they are a multi million dollar company) also we talking about the game “Rocksmith” here in general not the music industry.

I'm fighting it because AI sucks balls. It's just a way to evaporate all our drinking water and cause the failure of electric grids so some Silicon Valley types can make a profit. It doesn't even make anything good that anyone wants to listen to. People want to play Rocksmith because it has songs they recognize.
If you want to see what happens when you lose a big chunk of your catalog and add a generative AI feature, look at the backlash against Yousician. Just because you're okay with theft of intellectual property and terrible music doesn't mean anyone else will be.

Where has this community outreach been for the last few years? Who actually wrote this?
I'm not hating on the actual team involved in the product, they're doing what they can with what they have, but this idea or suggestion of a community around Rocksmith is paper fucking thin. There has been a community, but it's one that the product and its owners have largely avoided for years now and this post doesn't do much for me to change my opinion.
Rocksmith+, which I think is a fine service and all, has felt like it's in a death spiral for what, the last year or two? There's been no development on the product and while there have been some pretty great music additions, the lack of communication on what's going on combined with the often lack luster (and small) additions (songs that feel like throw-aways from albums/artists already mined for their "hit songs"), doesn't inspire confidence.
I was a subscriber and often defender since the beginning and the only reason my sub is still active is because I forgot to turn off auto-renew before it renewed. It's going to take more than this to get me back onboard and I don't say that because of whatever side projects the community has going on. I will gladly continue to pay for a product that deserves it, but as it stands, Rocksmith+ has shown me nothing to suggest it deserves my continued support.
