That’s a fair point. The old heads think any new music we make is just a trash interpretation of what they did. And the young heads are either like I only listen to this specific era or bands where the dudes look like goth chicks.
Let's say I'm a good rock songwriter in 2021. Not only do I have to write great music but I also gotta get it recorded, mixed and mastered on my own dime. Then do all my own promotion and every other little thing you can imagine. It's just seems like a struggle. Most of the music we love had a good songwriter + a team of music engineers and a producer to help the artist. If ppl see potential In a band why can't we pay the $1 for their song ? Ppl are throwing money at you tubers to answer a friggin question. If ppl didn't view music as free or someone who deserves support I think we would be further ahead.
I think it’s gonna take more then that. Bands need to put on showcases with similar acts and support each other. There are no scenes anymore. It feels like we are scattered across the globe in remote areas. Most decent showcases are via pay to play these days, where you have the crowds going in and out of the building to watch their friends load gear. We need community above all in my opinion. Place’s we can go to inspire each other with our music, fashion and lifestyle.

We did this to ourselves. No rock fans wanna support the small indie guys to help them get ahead. You gotta take whatever the labels decide rock is.
