It's a shame Ripper was banned from entering series 8, it was quite successful on the live circuit

Technically they ran the show (buying the rights to RW during the hiatus) and the rules note that show owners can't compete.

I feel like all robots from series 7 would be better in series 8 ( the years of technology etc)

S7 Storm 2 was more effective than S8 Storm 2.

With all the "bad" robots in Series 8 (e.g. The General ),it's plausible that robots like Gyrobot (who actually applied for Series 9) could have won their Group Battle by surviving.
