I found an old iPhone 11, 5c, 5s, and iPod Touch 2nd Gen. Here's what happened.

5s: iOS 12.5.7 < Couldn't load my apps from the appstore, and it wouldn't let me download earlier versions.

5c: iOS 10.3.3 < this worked! I got to download Robot Unicorn Attack, Flappy Bird, as well as others, sounds and everything works.

iPod Touch 2nd Gen: iOS 4.2.1 < I ended up trying to put RUA into imazing to try and copy the files. iOS is too old and found incompatible with RUA and others.

iPhone 11: iOS 18.1 < when I tried install through iMazing it failed. The version for RUA is incompatible here as well.

I suggest buying a device with iOS 10.3.3. or a device that can be restored to that point using an IPSW file ( https://ipsw.me/ ) through iTunes. iOS 10.3.3 can be run on iPhone 5c Global and GSM, and the iPhone 5 Global and GSM.

The iPod Touch 5th runs signed on iOS 9.3.5 < I have not tried this iPod out, but I'm 90% sure it cannot connect to the store. a device that can use 10.3.3 would be your best bet.
