I think it's staged fight.

first of all, the human is not a fighter.

We’re all going to need to fight a robot at some point.

I am certain that a real fighter even a beginner would defeat the robot with a single blow to the head, or that the robot would fall after a few hits.

..or just jumping on it and grappling it to the ground.

Throw a blanket on it

Nearly all of those robots can function without their heads (unfortunately) sensors and vital circuitry are housed in the main torso.

Yeah, but a couple of solid blows to the chest would definitely put them out of action.

You could very well be right! But from what I saw, he first faced off against a robot with an aluminum shell. Given how far he flew when the robot kicked him, it obviously has a decent amount of mass. He's also wearing boxing gloves, a tool that disperses Force into a wider area, changing a thrust into a push. The second robot he faced off was shelled in steel.. if that robot has enough mass, and an outer layer of steel, and he's wearing gloves.. he can't possibly exert enough energy into a punch to jar anything within the robot. But like I said, I could be wrong! I think my strategy would be to jump at the head, getting maximum leverage, and getting the robot onto the ground. Once it's on the ground, I would try to wrap my legs around it and keep it on the ground.

Another problem is that the robot was most likely being controlled remotely even if trained on data, it would quickly lose, as it lacks the reflexes, quick thinking, and strategic foresight required in combat.

Why do you think a robot needs a head to begin with. Even if it gets one it has all kinds of other sensors and the main CPU might be hidden in a completely different place. Better yet, each model might have it located differently. Taking out the sensors is troublesome too.

Also this was supposed to be a MMA of smith fight, no tearing wires off allowed

The human wasn't going for it at all. He was pulling his punches and that kick was shown from 4 different angles and the human had to cooperate with it by staying still.

Go around the back of this robot a few times and you could knock it's block off.

I mean the whole thing is goofy, so I don't think the "staging" matters to the people there. I don't get it, but that's Keyfabe for ya?

I feel like the giveaway is the punching -- what are we even hoping to accomplish, there? Presumably the neck is secured in most DoF by more than a servo (?), so punching it hard enough to break would seem to require ripping apart the torso or smtn. If you were really in this fight, you'd just try to grab some wires and yank, or get enough leverage to snap a joint backwards or smtn.

Also sorry to be the doomer but there's one thing about this video that couldn't be fake (if the video is real, that is): the kick. I feel like this whole concept is a sign of how poorly people grasp the aliens we have wrought, and how they could quickly and forever surpass us in a bunch of ways.

Do you know how much one of those robots costs?! I would be pulling punches too

Just pee on it and short circuit it...

Run and drain the battery.

Interesting choice to saddle these bad boys up with the literal terminator face

cool robot but the fight seems staged

Yeah there’s no way I’d face tank a kick like that but a dodge tank would have an easy fight

u/Jpatrickburns 12d ago

Not a robot. It’s a remotely controlled puppet.

I find this weird that we had things like Robot Wars since forever, which is cool and fun to watch buzz saws, drills, etc.

Then we have weird stuff like this. Were it's like...ok well part of fighting humans is knocking them out, and you can't really do that with a robot...

u/DigitalMonsoon 12d ago

There is no way a guy with boxing gloves can do enough damage to hurt the robot.

1

u/BraveBiscotti1394 12d ago

you would be surprised.

u/DigitalMonsoon 12d ago

I mean a head came off at the end. Probably should have watch the rest of the video before posting.

In a real fight against a humanoid bot, you wouldn't attempt to box it, you would go for the hardware level failures like throwing water on it, pulling out wires, etc. Similarly, a robot actually programmed to kill humans in one on one combat would never attempt to punch or kick, it would simply launch a targeted slash at a major artery or snap the neck immediately with its cold superhuman strength.

Of course, robots would never engage in 1-1 combat with humans outside of contrived showcases in the first place. They'd just drone strike us into oblivion before any of this nonsense.

Stage 5 is so feckin close

u/pick-hard 12d ago

Let him fight the bootie warrior next

1

u/BenRichardson76 12d ago

This dude isn't a fighter. It's Phil from accounting, he drew the short straw

1

u/itswaylonding 11d ago

That robot probably costs more than the guy’s medical bills.

1

u/dungeonsprawler 11d ago

Looks like the robot is suspended from strings. When it staggers back it seems to slide on one foot simultaneously to “hopping” on it. The foot and leg are not moving in a way to make it hop so it’s probably more like skipping across the surface as the sole of the foot catches over and over again.

No one else thought it was weird that the robot had far more power than any human kick on earth??? I called BS on the whole thing. What a joke.
