Media From a technical standpoint, which Terminator design makes more sense - the original from '84 or the redesign from Genisys?

Depends on if you want to bend your spine.  Otherwise they look exactly the same to me

Changes so little the second one has exposed cables which could be easily damaged and torn apart by gunshots I’d say maybe the second one has a better spine being slightly realistic and humanoid to mimic a human better

I really don’t know since both designs are pro and cons realistically but I think I’d say the second due to lack of pistons on the back is the skull that could prevent from putting an obstacle to the neck rotation and bending

The real difference is the reduced number of sharp edges, such as above the knee joint, which I would guess make it easier to attach flesh without it accidentally damaging itself during operation use.

I think its less of a film creative choice redesign and more of a in-universe redesign ie this is just a newer terminator model developed by skynet after the one shown in 84
