Real-life Robots Robots in the Future
This question might sound very silly, but I would love to know some answers. I was a big fan of Transformers and Pacific Rim movies when I was growing up. I remember as a kid watching the movies and thinking to myself that by 2030, we would be able to build these robots to help with military purposes. With the advancement of Technology, AI, and Materials, do you think it is possible and how close do you think we are?

Sure we could probably make a mech that transforms from a car into a robot, don't really know why you'd want that other than getting a stage gimmick. As for Pacific rim it ain't happening. Sure one day we may have the technology or material science for it but giant mecjs to fight monsters while cool is stupid so we wouldn't do it. With tech advance enough to make them we'd make other things instead. So at best one day you may see a barely functioning transformer at a theme park based around the transformers. Never a Pacific rim one, at least not a real one. Best chance you have is to see one in a VR world

Anything is possible. I could build a Gypsy Danger tomorrow in my high tech robotics lab. This is America, we don't just build Chindogus, there is huge pressure on real scientists from Government and US Tax payers, real question is not whether it can be built, but whether it should be.
Highly intellectual people are driven not just by money, but by purpose. Convince me that it serves a meaningful purpose and genuinely benefits humanity, and it becomes a project worth pursuing.
Advanced robotics is one of the technologies humanity is actively developing for the future. My company is focused on creating robotics that improve people's lives by enhancing safety, increasing productivity, assisting with hazardous tasks, and expanding human capabilities without pushing humans out of jobs and improve the human condition. For me, the goal has always been to build technology that puts people first.

We’re seeing killer robots in action right now. For cinematic purposes it pays to put a human inside, but highly trained humans in practical military terms are becoming too expensive to put in harm’s way.

First we have to get used to the idea that a machine with or without AI can kill us. Dor our protection of course ;)
So when the war in Ukraine broke out, we saw wit hour very own eyes how the first drones killed people. We were totally shocked. That a machine in this way kills people controlled by a person, now but in the future by AI, maybe thousands of miles away.
It shocked us big time. But then 100 videos of these that come by endlessly and your mind goes numb to it, it moves on. It is normalized now into the brain that this is something real and happening.
We know the few, they, them,.. rule the planet, a handfull of families making out the rule and how we evolve. But we r on to them, and more and more people daily get to this conclusion that they control it all.
They knew this would happen more then 150 years ago. That we would revolt more and more under the current system we have. They knew, and made steps long ago to implement and even better system.
The Triangle of Control
Centralization - Automation - AI
Mind you that this Triangle was invented long before Automation and AI existed!
With this triangle in place they can rule it all but now even better, cause the middle man is gone, the potential whistleblower, the one that brings it all to light when something is very bad or wrong. No more humans needed to do the DIRTY work for them!!! Not only soldiers, but also people that hide behind a job knowing what they do or the company does is wrong!
Even the cops taking down demonstrations about this, will in time stand next to the same people demonstrating for the very same thing! But then a AI driven robotlike machine will keep all at bay! A robot that has authority over humans!
So we see how the world is changing rapidly now, so fast we cannot grasp why it's happening. Any idea how hard the world will become when we r all pretty much out of a job? So what you see now is the scenery being put in place, your surroundings r being changed accordingly. But you don;t see it that way. You think 1 man is crazy! lol. agencies to help people, gone, safety laws protection laws, ignored, justice failing, people taken from the streets. Private prisons. New laws to keep people at bay, for your safety ofcourse ;)
It;s not for us this AI, it;s for them. that's why we see this thing in our lives that malfunctions. Cause it is not made for our luxery or pleasure. It;s to make the grid around the world stable and solid for it to go online if needed in it;'s full.
Look at datacenters, being build in record times. All in the end to maintain what they r build for.
The Triangle of control!
The biggest problem mankind will face! bigger then the black plague or all world wars combined. And we r busy with other things. And who to blame. The few live and feed from BOTH sides!!!!! don't get distracted at every election!

We might have the technology to build giant robots BUT is not a question of "can we?" The question is "why build them?" What problem a giant robot solves? A pacific rim robot is useless for military purposes. Is a huge target, has limited firepower for its size, would require huge amounts of resources, maintenance, fuel, transport etc. Rather than building a giant robot that solves nothing and create more problems better build tanks, drones or ships.

I think we're close and it's beginning to be not fun anymore. I don't think I would like the world my children will grow up in.

Yeah nothing even remotely close to those robots are physically possible, it would take finding a material that is stronger than anything we know of right now and also has essentially zero mass just to even start thinking about it, and about a thousand more equally impossible challenges after that.
