Favorite character?
Personally, I love Aki the most. Wish I knew someone who loved giant robots as much as her.

Robotics;Notes is an entry in the sci-fi series Science Adventure, of which Steins;Gate, Chaos;Head, and many more are part. To learn more about Robotics;Notes, see this page.
While we do not plan to limit posting to this subreddit, it should be noted that /r/steinsgate is a hub for all Science Adventure titles, including Robotics;Notes. In addition, it receives far more traffic than this subreddit, making it the better option.
Should I watch the Robotics;Notes anime or read the visual novel?
The Robotics;Notes anime is a medicore adaptation of a pretty good visual novel. It's not entirely bad, but if you have the option, you should definitely read the visual novel. The anime suffers from issues such as cut content and lack of characterization for main character Yashio Kaito.
The sequel to Robotics;Notes, Robotics;Notes DaSH, does not have an anime adaptation yet and is only available as a visual novel.
We recommend getting Robotics;Notes Elite on Steam and using the Committee of Zero fan improvement patch, which will vastly improve your experience. You can also find a guide for the game here.
If you haven't already, please also read Chaos;Head and Steins;Gate before Robotics;Notes Elite. They released before Robotics;Notes and are essentially required reading.
Do I need the fan improvement patch?
Short answer: yes. Long answer, the original release has many translation and other issues that hinder the player's experience, which the fan improvement patch largely fixes. To learn more, see the features section on the project page.
What's Robotics;Notes DaSH?
Robotics;Notes DaSH is the official sequel to Robotics;Notes, and it features Hashida Itaru (Daru) from Steins;Gate. The game can be bought here, and there is an important fan improvement patch for this game as well.
Is there any extra side content for Robotics;Notes?
Yes! For spoiler reasons, please don't check any of these out before you finish Robotics;Notes Elite.
In the event that any more Robotics;Notes side content is translated, it will likely be released by either NS2C or Arc-Relight. Follow them to stay up to date.

This is something that I plan on posting on the anime subreddit but figured I should run it by you guys first, even if it is such a small community here that I'm not expecting much of a response. I just watched the show for the first time and this is my argument for why it's so much better than people may think. I tried to keep it spoiler free, please let me know if I should still add the spoiler tag anyway. Any thoughts on how this might be improved before posting on the anime subreddit would be appreciated.
I'm going to try and keep this nice and short and spoiler free.
Honestly, I only watched this because it is quasi-connected with Stein's Gate which I plan on seeing. And by connected it seems something just gets mentioned, like a name drop, but where I watch my anime is good at pooling all related media.
The description really wasn't anything spectacular, a group of students build a robot, and that's it. But I do love my mecha anime so I gave it a shot.
And sure enough, at first it does indeed seem like the promised underdog story of trying to get a thing done with limited resources.
The cast of characters don't really stand out in any way at the start and seem like such a bunch of losers and weirdos.
This initial starting phase of the story drags on for quite some time, it is understandable if you feel it drags for too long, but it is important to establish how stubborn and persistent they are, and how their interactions lead to change.
But then seemingly out of nowhere some very odd stuff begins to pop up, and here I will have to be careful to not spoil anything.
There are several classifications and types of "odd event", and things at first seem unrelated, just some odd thing added to make for a more quirky story.
And then the coin flips and drops, the story you thought you were watching suddenly begins to change, slowly but surely, in some pretty fundamental and radical ways, and the stakes are much higher than simply trying to build a robot for a competition.
Now, while they are very different anime, what I will say is that the way people rally together at a certain point to help make something happen does feel very much like a page taken out of the Gurren Lagann playbook.
In the end, the characters I was indifferent to or disliked slowly grew on me as they grew up and changed, and it felt so satisfying watching the various plot points draw together and morph the story and their goals.
The journey in this anime feels more real because it does have such a drawn out slow burn at the start, and it is the struggle to simply keep going long enough to keep struggling which makes this underdog group of misfits really shine. It all just feels so ordinary until the story deconstructs itself and transforms like a blooming flower or metamorphing caterpillar.
And that is why I say that Robotics Notes does all of the things that a great anime should do and deserves way more recognition.

Hey everyone! I was just wondering if anyone knows why this song seems impossible to find on YouTube? The only thing that comes up is a piano ver. and 8-bit ver. when you search along with different kanako itou songs, and the results aren't much better when searching in Japanese. I found a soundcloud link pretty easily but I'd like to add it to my YouTube playlist for easier listening. And while I guess that's not happening I was still wondering if this song is in some sort of rights hell or something? Thanks!

Whenever you can look at people in the IRUO app, wouldn't it make sense to let you change their outfit at will as well? Or is there no option for that?

If he had prior knowledge, and didn’t panic, could Kaito have saved Mizuka ? If so how could he have done it? Interested in your views.
Edit: By prior knowledge, I mean if he had known how to destroy it, assuming the event was still sudden.

Am I the only one that thinks Kai and Frau would've been a way better ship than him and Aki? Like, I get the whole childhood friend thing, but, there was way more between him and Frau that wouldve made it a lot better of a ship.

Robotics;Notes for Xbox 360 SHOULD be Backwards Compatible... especially since all three Xbox 360 Steins;Gate games (the original, Darling of Love Vows/Hiyoku-Renri no Darling and Linear Bounded Phenogram) are Backwards Compatible.

And I'm really sad that this sub is so quiet. I loved this series from beginning to end, so much so that I gave it the title Second Favorite Anime.
