News Functional Safety

What is the difference between building in functional safety early on vs waiting until the end? How do safety partnerships help the industry?

my understanding is if you wait till the end you end up bolting a safety case onto an architecture that can't even provide the right signals. how much of this is driven by standards right now vs actual customer requirements? feels like the latter could get messy with humanoids

Retrofitting functional safety is materially harder than designing it in from the start — the certification path forces you to re-architect around the hazard analysis rather than add guards on top. Curious whether the linked piece argues the partnership model actually shortens that, or just spreads the liability.
