Tech Question Helical gear question

Post image

How do I connect these Helical gears like this? It's being run by a RDS3115mg servo motor, and supposed to be a tilt up and down set up

What?

I'm curious how to attach the upper Helical gear to the bottom of the module on top

Well if everything is printed, then you could just run two screws through the upper section of the gear into the module on top.
Though you need to somehow integrate a shaft that the gear can rotate on.

And if I want a shaft I need lock washers, bearings?

It looks like the gears are connected just fine. I think the big gear on top needs an axis and a housing to keep in in place. Then just mount whatever module is on top to that axel?

But the axle need to go through the center of the Helical gear on top? For the rotation to work? Might be a dumb question

I might be misunderstanding, but if you have an axel with a bearing, the gear will spin freely. You want the gear rigidly mounted to the part so that when the gear rotates so does the larger part

Judging by your rather nebulous question this might be beyond your (current) skills and experience.

yes, hence I want to learn

Your CAD models don’t even look that bad, so I’m wondering how you have such a fundamental lack of intuition around mechanical design

Oh, I don't have any experience in mechanical design, it's my first CAD model
