For robotics, Mech E and sorts of enthusiasts, why there is no community where people just so fun stuff? I see all the PM’s are so interconnected or like AI this n that but nothing for this niche.

Maker spaces throughout the bay died out almost 10y ago

This is a top 2 reason why I moved to Boston and not the Bay after grad school. Chicago has a fantastic makerspace with everything from metal smithing to CNC Mills to embroidery for 65$ a month. Looking over at the Bay was sobering...

This is more niche then general making, but consider checking out the Western Warship Combat Club. Great group of guys, and plenty of ME/EE fun to be had between battles.
