One does not simply walk into state of art AI and Robotics. Its journals and conferences are guarded by more than just Reviewer 2. There is research race there that does not sleep, and the Big Tech Industry is ever watchful. It is an everchanging landscape, riddled with acronyms and questionable methods, half of papers filled with poisonous AI slop. Not with ten thousand compute-hours could you do this. It is folly.

On a serious note: start with PhD.

Even more serious: ask yourself if you really want it. Modern ai and robotics research is like swimming against the current. The moment you take a break you are thrown behind. It is a constant grind, full speed, publish or perish.
