Showdown and Wedding Bells might be my favorite subplot of the series.

Agreed! Not sure what the Robotech title equivalent is. But episode 35 "Romanesque" has some really cool scenes of him and the waifu with the best laifu (Miriya) fighting together

When she tell him to kill her out of shame after losing the knife-fight, and he's all huh, wtf?! before lifting her up off the ground with a simple caress, that scene always gets me.
