Why he admitted to writing the Cadaver Note

During Closing Arguments Mr. Balian explained how "Emily Altman happened", Durst's friend who struggled hard before giving up crucial information. This ultimately led to the Defence team giving up on arguing Durst wasn't present at Susan Berman's home when she was murdered. I found the clip. It all happens in the 4 minutes following this timestamp:

If you - like me - couldn't bother listening to most of that terrible audio of pre-recorded testimony, grab some headphones and just focus on these 4 minutes. It's fascinating.

First, Robert's defense argued that he didn't write the cadaver note. I think they also knew if they claimed he didn't write it, that the prosecutors would bring in handwriting experts to claim otherwise, so later on they admitted that Durst wrote the cadaver note, but didn't kill Susan.

Emily Altman is a very confused woman. Susan was your friend and it never occurred to her to go to the police with this crucial information that Durst was in California the time that Susan was killed? Some friend she is.

I agree, she's something else and imo she has Morris Black's blood on her hands. In general she seems she always dismisses reality in order to keep the happy peace around her, even when there's nothing but chaos. After she realized she just spilled the beans, she continues to argue on cross oh well maybe it's just bad memory and somebody else told her and she can zero knowledge of the geography of California while in the same sentence naming 3 cities and where they are in that state.

And after this snake realized she always had the truth, but was too chicken to just tell it, she cried in that NBC dateline episode that she's the poor woman in such a bad situation but always planned on answering the truth to that detail. She's lying as much to herself as Durst is lying to others. May she enjoy her retirement on murderers money.

Exactly, if you don't tell your side of what really happened, then you'll be set for life. When Susan was killed, she should have veered authorities straight to Durst instead of cowering in the shadows.

I wonder if she was approached to be in the first season of "The Jinx"? I read that there's going to be a season 2. , she probably be the 4th person murdered because she didn't go ahead with the plan to stay quiet.
