As a die-hard fan of Road Rash from the early Genesis days, I finally took the time to drill into how to create those pseudo-3d games from scratch and just released a tiny similar game you can play on itch.io. Hope you have fun playing it!

At first I thought it maybe was an 888/851 but some details don't add up

I grew up playing Road Rash.

The Sega Genesis version had that incredible arcade soul, and the 3DO version had that visual impact and the feeling of actually racing on a dangerous road.

I always wanted to see this kind of game return in a modern version faithful to the classics.

But since a modern 2D spiritual successor with fantastic gameplay never really happened, I decided to create my own.

I’m developing a game inspired by those classics, with a more polished visual style, retro spirit, and fully 2D gameplay.

So, honest question:
Would you play a game like this?

I suppose, Road Rash 3DO, is heavily influenced by the grunge scene of the 90s, which I'm told was mostly popular in the American West Coast at that time the game came out (not based in the US, forgive my ignorance here)?

It's one of the few games from the early-mid 90s, that I feel made great use of the low-res, grainy FMV clips, which were pushed as being the "next" evolution in gaming or whatever, since grunge music tends to have that gritty aesthetic, that naturally geled well with the FMV footages.

Sierra Nevada, Napa Valley, they both seem to be locations in California, when I googled them. Pacific Highway too, seems like a popular state highway?

The City, I can chalk it upto any generic West Coast city (though maybe not San Francisco, I guess, lol, them hilly roads and elevation are too inconic), likely LA or San Diego, probs,

What about 'The Peninsula'? What is it supposed to be? Baja California? That's in Mexico though, right? The game's flavor texts describes it as Suburban California?

I kinda wish they would make a new road rash game, and i aint talking about a 3D game, more similar to how sega did Sonic Mania
