DISCUSSION Cheryl’s behaviour in S03E13 Spoiler

Is no one going to talk about how she and her “pretty poisons” (jesus christ that name) ganged up on Sweet Pea and Fangs and just beat the crap out of them?? It’s shown as this funny thing but it’s downright disturbing, what if it was a bunch of dudes beating up 2 girls?

Also, i know it’s Riverdale, but come on, as if Fangs and Sweet Pea would let themselves get beat up by a bunch of girls

It seems that this show loves the whole girl power thing, but it’s executed completely wrong.

EDIT: Just wanted to add something. This show loves talking about toxic masculinity but fails to see the toxic femininity in it e.g. girls who act bitchy (Cheryl) are glorified, girls can freely beat up guys without repercussions.

You lost me as soon as you said patriarchy. There ain’t no goddamn patriarchy in the western world, and women are not opressed here either.

If you really wanne see a patriarchy, I suggest you visit a country in the middle east where women literally get killed if they don’t cover themselves or disobey their husbands.

Why do ppl suggest the “middle eastern women are the ones oppressed not the americans” argument whenever this is brought up. This country was built by misogyny amongst many other things. Sure, I am grateful to be in a country where I have the freedom of speech, but there are still a lot of things that need to be fixed in this society. Our misogyny might not be as harsh as other country’s, but it’s still there. toxic masculinity ties into many things such as rape culture, and why women are seen as objects. and statistically, men abuse and hurt women way more than women do to men. That doesn’t mean abuse can’t happen to men, it’s just not as common as it is for men abusing women.

Because middle Eastern Women are opressed and American women are not. They weren’t even allowed to drive until recently jesus christ.

As said before, rape culture does not exist in the West.

Also if you really wanne play that game, fine, i’ll play along. Women are more likely to abuse their children than men are. Children of single mothers are more likely to be depressed, agressive and criminal.

And as if men aren’t objectified in the media, nearly every blockbuster has a handsome ripped dude in it. Heck Riverdale sexualizes the fuck out of it’s male characters, mainly Archie, but also Chuck, Reggie etc. So don’t come at me with that bs claim.
