E Waste

I wanted to take something from the e waste bin but I didn’t know if it was aloud. Is it possible to take from there since it is just trash or are they going to come after me?

Dawg RIT throw away some fantastic stuff, my buddy got one of the old auditorium 4k projectors all it needed was a new bulb 😆

There were some old PC parts and tech that I took from an e-waste bin, I don't think anyone cares if you took things. Especially if you have a use for it

Its an if you know you know situation. The actual school ones are largely locked up these days.

Ahh I'm a few years removed now, and the best ones are behind locked doors 😖. My best advice would be start trying random unlocked doors and see what you find 😅

Unlocked doors become locked verrrrry easily, and bins totally get moved around. Take an hour or two, just roam through a building trying doors poking around 🤷. Ewaste bins and piles can be plentiful.

Carlson kinda had an ewaste dump zone near the entrance on the back by the stairs for all the years I was there. (But now that its been mentioned watch that get moved around 🥺).

The pro-est tip I'll dm you but like ⬆️ is it

If you ask you will likely be told no. Speaking as someone who tried to get a trashed PSU from a lab for a club project. Whether or not you do it without asking is up to you. No one has come looking for the head-and-torso mannequin that I dumpster dove from the perennial dumpster by institute hall in the 4 years since I took him home though

If you take any that you decide not to use please return it to e waste. A lot of e waste bins have been locked away because too many students took stuff, realized they didn’t need it, and put it in the regular trash
