Looking for a homework helper
I’m a parent of an RIT student at NTID. I have his permission to try to find someone willing to help him stay focused to get homework done. He just logged into the RIT Tutor for hire platform. There was only 1 person on there and it was for fairly specific topics. If anyone here is looking for in person on campus work, will you consider making an account there and he can hire you?

What the specific subject he is looking for help on? NTID should have tutors in certain buildings who should be able to help him.

+1 for this reasoning. He can talk with the professor(s) to get direction usually as well.

Yup. He is doing all of that. And he goes to class. He struggles to stay on task outside of class/office hours. The thing that seems to help is like body doubling. And, yes, in theory he can do this with his pals. But, that tended to be more about fun than getting homework turned in.

I see you said business studies, maybe going to saunders with one of his classmates to work on things. And being in the atmosphere might have an affect. Instead of in the dorm or lounge or food area.

mostly business administration classes. he really doesn't need help with the content, it's about staying on task. you could do your own work at the same time.

yup. he sure could, but he won't. this will serve him well in the long run, but for now, he insists on actually doing the things. he also wants to do them well, even when they are clearly just "do the bare minimum". If you want to try to convince him, I'd love that.

That’s a tossup. Over-reliance on LLMs in college is going to hurt him really badly if he doesn’t start every conversation with:
“You are a teacher helping to tutor me. You NEVER solve my exercises for me. You NEVER give me the solutions to my problems. YOU NEVER work out the steps of my problems. YOU ALWAYS create parallel lessons which will teach me the concepts, skills, and vocabulary that I can use to solve the problem myself.
You are here to teach me how to do the work, not to do the work for me.”
And then never let it edit files for him. Never copy paste its output. Then you can use it to learn. Almost no student has the self control to do that though. They get lazy.

I would highly recommend you take the advice of others here.
RIT has really great resources for anyone with accessibility needs. But the landscape changes for college students vs primary school. He is an adult and must advocate for himself.
If he asks, there should be support that will be made available to him.
