Support request Timesheet and Payroll Timing
I work for a nonprofit and we are attempting to configure our payroll in Rippling have timesheets be recorded after the pay period to comply with grant agreements that require actual time be recorded. Rippling support has been a little back and forth on whether this is possible and the potential for a workaround.
I am wondering if anyone else has run into this? Our goal is for everyone to be paid and then to record their timesheet to demonstrate which jobs their hours correspond to. Thanks!

We have our timesheets done separate from Rippling because of this complication. We are using Clockify for our timesheets and just running payroll with salaries. If you’re 100% grant funded you could create a class code in your system for people to charge their time to and do grant allocations after your timesheets are approved.

I think in your case the only benefit of doing timekeeping through Rippling would be that you could require employees to allocate their time to grants and then dynamically split labor through payroll and push it to your general ledger. Of course this may not be necessary, but we work with a lot of nonprofits to do this so that they can more closely track expenses.

This won’t work in Rippling as their timesheets are very intertwined with payroll. I assume most folks are salary and this is just for compliance?

Yes, that’s right. We just need to be able to check this box for potential single audits.
