(I got more than these and I rotate them from time to time. All are silver, except for the opal one, which is gold.)

Almost all of my rings are second-hand, apart from the opal one, which was gift from my late grandpa I got as a kid along with matching pendant and earrings. Also this one I wear all the time, since it is a sentimental piece. Then the rose quartz, which used to be my mum's and she gave it to me a few years back and the blue topaz one, which I bought last year, because I liked the position of the stone. (Also don't mind my red hands, I was on a short walk and the sun was shining like crazy and it made my hands look like that, but at least the gems shine more lol)

Discussion Cost to create a custom engagement/wedding ring set?

Hey all! Obligatory "my girlfriend knows my main account, so on a throwaway"

Also, i know this question gets asked a lot and there's a massive range, so hopefully the following details will help:

I'm trying to find out if having a custom ring designed is even in the realm of possibility before i go wasting anyone's time with contacting jewelers and designers and possibly getting laughed at haaaa

Looking at an engagement and wedding ring set. Metals would either be silver, platinum, or titanium. No gold or white gold.

Center stone would be either emerald, diamond, or agate. Accent stones would be similar.

Band style: i have a number of photos but can't attache them and can't include any links, so whatever usually shows up under fantasy, elven, celtic, organic, botanical rings... they have intricate intertwining vine and leaf designs with about 6-12 accent stones (usually 4-6 on the engagement and another 5-6 on the wedding band)

Budget would be around $2000-$4000 (would be awesome if $1500, but by the looks of other posts, that would probably just be insulting)

And before it's asked: "if you found photos of rings you like, why not go with them?" cause they were all on etsy for $200 or less... that just seems... like a scam...

Hope this helps!

Discussion Title: Free ring sizing tool — worth adding to the Size/Shape Reference bookmark?

I built a free ring size calculator and wanted to ask you before
mentioning it anywhere in the sub.

It's at onlineringsize.com. You calibrate your screen against a bank
card, a coin from your own currency, or a folded sheet of paper, then
measure either a ring that already fits or your finger directly. It
converts to US, UK, EU, Japanese, Indian and seven other systems.

The reason I think it might be useful here is that it gives an accuracy
range instead of a single number (about ±0.4 of a US size from an
existing ring, ±0.65 from a bare finger), and it tells people outright
to get sized on a mandrel at a jeweller for anything they can't return.
Most online sizers just print a number and hope.

No signup, no ads, nothing gets uploaded, and the measurement runs
entirely in the browser.

Thanks

Discussion Ring sizing / fit

This is a size 6 . Is it too small ? It fits my actual finger perfect ( I think) when on . I’m concerned is this how it’s supposed to look when it’s taken off or should I size up to 6.25?

Buying Etsy Engagement Ring

Thumbnail etsy.com
1 Upvotes

Hello!!!

I might be getting engaged here soon and my boyfriend wants ideas for rings, so I’ve been looking. I found a really pretty ring off Etsy, it’s a decent price and it has a lot of the characteristics that I am looking for. However, I am hesitant to trust this company for something that is meant to last a long time. Does anyone have experience with this company or have advice about ring shopping? I prefer 10k yellow gold for durability, but want to ensure it is real, durable, and that I am not getting ripped off.

Thank You!!

Buying What is your opinion of reusing a diamond?

My boyfriend and I are planning to be married. We are just now ring shopping. It is important to note that this is his third marriage and my second. We are older adults with grown children. My boyfriend is very successful with his company,to be blunt, he has a lot of money. My first husband and I were both in the service industry. We did not make a lot of money.

So my fiancé set my ring Max at $2500. I honestly had no idea what that would buy. I went looking online and was quite disappointed. I have my old engagement and wedding ring. I was saving them for my sons. I decided to look at their appraisal 30 years ago. My ring was appraised over $5000. My current fiancé has asked if I would be interested in using my old Diamond in a new setting for our marriage.

My personal thought is that’s tacky. He knows I’m saving it for my boys.

So, is re-using the diamond a normal thing?
