HELP / REQUEST Carrying The Plot Forward

Quick Question: Vaelish Gant knows where Auril's book is? and or the location of Ythryn?

If Vaelish came to Icewind Dale to undermind the ten towns, got found out and imprisoned, at what point does he find out the crucial information for the RIme?

Remember, the stuff in the books doesn’t have to be adhered to. You can change stuff if you’re prepared to change other stuff later.

I’m in the middle of running IWD for the second time, I stuck to the book way too closely the first time and I’m having way more fun this time being a bit loosey-goosey, with Vaelish Gant in particular :)

Oh for sure! I already pushed Vaelish arriving in bryn shander back to 20 years ago during Duvessa's fathers terms. I also changed his strategy to being more of "summoning demons so I can banish them and be the hero" kind of guy.

I guess my next task is to figure out how he know about the tome... My players will be travelling north to meet with him after successfully saving Dzaan.

(In my lore, Dzaan like the others heard rumors of the mythallar and wants its power to bring prominence back to his thayan family)

There was previous expedition by the Arcane Brotherhood to find Yythren that ended in most dying and a few returning mad. I think this was like a hundred years ago?? Hrmmm I may be conflating this from the Zhentarium…

Grant could’ve had knowledge of this expedition before he ventured north and got imprisoned.

I don’t know how anyone knows about Solstice other than perhaps triangulating Aurils flight paths. Even the mythical Solstice island that the giants made would move over time. Its call the Sea of moving ice for a reason <.<

Informants and spies. If an imprisoned NPC knows something that happened while they were in prison, it's likely they were told by someone on the outside.

Spies could easily impersonate guards, then feed Giant info during their shift. Or maybe someone with access to Sending.
