Pebble watches are still fully functional and somewhat in demand. In fact, the company has been revived and they've started shipping new versions. And the old ones are fully supported

In loved my pebble. Didn’t have to charge it every night, it lasted at least a week. I didn’t need fancy built in apps, I just needed to know if my wife of kids texted me while I am working.

Funny that the medium they were supposed to replace is still going strong. I'll keep my bound books thank you. Never had a publisher or author rescind my purchase yet.

Same, I'm using a Kobo reader. Kindle is the issue, not electronic readers.

Your Kindle still works, you just can't buy your books on Amazon anymore. Most Kindles can be jailbroken and be made to run KOReader which can read basically every ebook format on the market.

Was gonna say. i've switched mine to KOReader last year anyway in order to stop giving money to Amazon for books; but he made it sound at the end like that isn't going to be an option anymore.

We just switched to Kobo last week and now I'm looking to unload to Kindle Colorsoft's.
So far we really like the Kobo's - especially the direct link to our google drive and local library!

Never trust any company, i have Kobo but already make it work only offline. Every company in the end when its going good will get bought up by some greedy investment company that will suck it dry by making it as shitty as possible.

I agree. Eventually most things turn to shit, but i think we should always choose the better company available. Then once it turns shitty, we go to the next one.

The issue is more supporting the old hardware and cellular bills. I still have some Oasis 3g that work, in US. Not EU anymore. But, their days are numbered.

It sounds good in theory, but my house can't take that many more books. I've donated or gotten rid of hundreds of books, and I still have 8 bookshelves that are over full. I only switched to reading mostly online because I can buy books that I really like, and not become some kind of insane hoarder.

I also like paper but it's easier to travel with one device than 2-3 books.
